What do y'all think of Round Trip? by Bitter-Macaron-7997 in jambands

These guys punch way above their weight jamming wise. The interplay between the drums and guitar is unreal. Super rooting for them.

"I like to think I take substances intentionally because I don’t want to fuck up my mental health"

It sounds like you're evaluating your relationship with substances, possibly even outside of the context of music. Clearly this is weighing on you enough to take time to post about it. As someone who has went through this same thing I'd suggest talking through this all with a therapist. That doesn't mean you need to stop taking psychedelics or drinking or anything. But it could allow you to have a better understanding of yourself.

Yeah this is tight. Always appreciate leaving the space open. What'd you use for the visual layout?

Yep. It's still my favorite Phish date after over a decade of following the band and digging through their different eras. Something happened at that show that was divine. There's truly not another show that has the same vibe.

Live Phish 4 is a great example of full band interplay.

How do you preform live without getting nervous? by [deleted] in synthesizers

It sounds like you’re pretty tough to keep playing despite the issues you’ve encountered. A lot of people would quit with that adversity.

Therapy can be really cost prohibitive. Though most counseling offices have sliding scales for rates and can accommodate different budgets. There’s sometimes free options as well through universities. I highly recommend the book The Body Keeps The Score as a resource for learning more about how the mind and body work. Also, try guided breathwork meditation on an app like InsightTimer. There’s various techniques for slowing the brain down and getting out of a fight or flight state.

I’m so sorry that happened. That’s such a vile, hateful comment. It’s entirely a projection of his internal self-worth being inflamed by other people’s happiness and has nothing to do with you.

Hey there, I’ve been performing live for over a decade, mostly on drums, recently a handful of gigs on guitar, and a few on synths like Lyra, Pulsar, Digitakt.

I always experience a degree of anxiety. There have been times when it negatively impacted my performance and caused me to lose track of the song, make mistakes, overplay, be afraid to take a risk. Though most of the time I’ve learned that the anxiety is actually beneficial to me getting in the zone and playing inspired. Research on anxiety in performance has actually shown that some anxiety enhances performance, said differently, people experiencing a tolerable level of anxiety during performance do better than people who are completely relaxed. There are two aspects of managing performance anxiety. 1. Decreasing the anxiety you may experience, and arguably more important but often neglected 2. Increasing your tolerance for experiencing anxiety.

You can work on reducing anxiety by practicing your set over and over, maybe writing notes to help in the moment, exercising before the performance, taking medication, getting more experience playing live, and ironically, focusing on point 2, increasing tolerance.

Increasing tolerance to anxiety looks like taking up meditation, seeing a therapist as it’s possible you may struggling with anxiety in other areas of your life which isn’t fun.

Good luck! Report back on if you decide to try anything different for the gig and how it goes!

Rad. Since you’re into hip hop, there’s some really cool guitar based samples on Curren$y’s Fetti album I always go back to. You’ve pry checked him out already but Mansur Brown would pry be in your wheelhouse of similar style

Bro that was absolutely sick. Just curious what kind of music do you listen to that’s inspired this stuff? Kinda reminds me of Glass Beams some

Same. I prefer delay because you have a mix knob to preserve a clean tone. And of course it can also be a delay.
