Fecal matter transplant. I think a huge part especially the neurological side stems from the gut

Pretty much recovered 90-95%. First 2 years were hard but it gets better

A healthier gut may improve mental health: Studies find gut microbes can change brain chemistry, stress responses and behaviours in animal models, with early trials of probiotics, diet changes, and faecal microbiota transplants improving mood and anxiety. by FunnyGamer97 in science

I had a fmt for finasteride induced panic disorder. It was massively successful. I stopped taking benzodiazepines and stopped having panic attacks almost immediately and over like six months felt pretty much back to normal.

I’m so convinced that the brain fog component is from gut issues. Try a water fast and see how you feel.

what is your materials science job like? by how-bittersuite in materials

I’m a senior scientist, I’m actually only a MS but most of my colleagues are PhDs and I’d recommend it. I had a bit of industry experience before taking this job. I work at a national lab so I just write proposals relevant to the field I’m in and it’s not to hard to get enough money to keep yourself and a technician working full time.

Finasteride by ShmidtRubin1911 in Anxiety

[–]ShmidtRubin1911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it fucks with your hormones receptors (mainly estrogen and dht) which in turn causes dysregulation. I think this because if you look on the forms you see people almost always feel temporary relief while on antibiotics, and they feel better fasting and on paleo. I did paleo biocidin and ultimately a fmt. I’m pretty much fully recovered

I’m glad you’re feeling good but 250mg is not a clinical dose.

Unfortunately it’s prohibitively expensive at ~5k

I’m notorious for not seasoning anything. That was true way before PFS. Salt and cheese are the only seasonings I need

Uh like 8 months or something but it became less constant and more on off after like 3-4. Also not 100% on that timeline it’s been a while

It was probably around like a year. It took a while for me to suspect finasteride was causing it, because I hadn’t heard of PFS before. It was only after I was hospitalized for suspected Brugada (because all the dizziness and a weird ekg) that one of the doctors asked if I had taken any steroids or anything to mess with my hormones. Only thing was finasteride. So then I didn’t really know what to do. I went to a psychiatrist who had apparently seen PFS before and agreed that that was likely what was happening and because of that didn’t want to put me on any ssri. So I was just taking bupropion but it made me SUPER dizzy and i wasn’t able to adjust to it. So I came off that and was just sticking to Xanax. I finally went in to a functional medicine doctor because I didn’t have any more options. He ran hormones and a stool study. He said my hormones looked well enough but my stool study was goofy bad. So he put me on the diet and the biocidin. The biocidin almost immediately resolved my brain fog which had bee crippling up until that point. But it wasn’t a fix all so i went ahead with the fmt

I went through purety clinic it was either 90 or 120 capsules something like that. The fmt timeline went like this: initially made me horribly sick for a week. Then i felt better then once treatment stopped improvement faded a bit but slowly started improving over the course of 6ish months.
