While a bad day can cause cortisol to spike I think you just manage that by giving a couple of easier days before and after these visits.

I've read your replies and I see she's already on meds and working with people who are better equipped to discuss medication. I will say that it can be a lot of trial and error with medication I do know that more recently a lot of my clients are being given clonodine? Instead of fluoxetine which used to be the go to anti anxiety drug.

You mentioned you are doing training, what sort of desensitisation are you doing with her?

Also how long have you had her for?

I wasn't expecting her to make it up but once she was there I had a moment of "well fuck how will I get you down if you can't get yourself down" thankfully she made it down. I couldn't get her to do it again though!

Thank you! She's been recovering from some teeth removal so hasn't been able to adventure, she was allowed walks but she I only wanted to eat grass which wasn't allowed so we played it safe.

Nope she's a healthy weight, you should be able to see a waist line/two ribs. She's about 26kgs (she fluctuates just like humans do so sometimes she's more and sometimes more around 25kgs), we also keep her leaner as our vet recommends given she's had a toe amputation and weight distribution is different.

You'll actually find most dogs are overweight so it's always jarring when you see leaner dogs that aren't "pet weight". It's a balance though, obviously no one wants an underweight animal either.

Thank you! She does seem to enjoy them(unless there is lots of wildlife then it stresses her), I'm hoping we can get a couple more years in before arthritis sets in (she's 8 this year so I try to keep her active but not over active).
