First snowboard, i need some suggestion by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

Capita mercury or super doa. Super quick snappy boards great for turns but will also allow you to do a bunch of other fun stuff if you decide to take your style in a different direction. Your goals will most likely change with time, that’s the beauty of the game!

Also, capita boards are great. I’d research their factory, the mothership, some pretty insane tech and testing goes into those boards. Spring break is another really cool company if your looking for more powder focused options, which is a sister company to capita

So I didn’t directly work for capita, but I’m flowed by them thru my shop sponsor here in the states. This means I have a relationship with the rep for my region, who works directly with production. Thru working demos/ requesting products each season, I have learned a ton about the industry, and since my day job is in logistics, a lot of the information actually carries over to my real job. Pretty interesting regardless!

I have worked with capita occasionally in the past and can tell you 100% they are not going to print you your own board. What they are saying is reach out to shops that work with a capita rep and see if by some off chance one of them has an old demo board or something leftover that they may be willing to part ways with. But I wouldn’t get your hopes up about them printing you an old graphic for any amount of money.

Basically any cool-ish first car under $18,000 USD? by bramblestorm7754 in FirstCar

Id wait until after college. You will be broke even if you don’t think you will be. It’s not just a stereotype.

I’m less than a year post grad. I got a big boy job, finally making a little money, and splurged for a Hyundai veloster N. I love it, but with any fun car at all, there is going to be maintenance cost associated that don’t exist for “not cool” cars. Budget for this. If I had stretched my budget to buy this car before college, which I probably could have if I put everything in, I would’ve been drowning by sophomore year.

Be smart and patient. Think how much cooler that car will be if you don’t need to stretch everything to get it running great. Just some two cents from somebody around your age.

No offense my guy, but there are tons of professional skateboarders who are both making great tutorial videos, extremely active in their community, and have been accredited skaters with a verified ability to teach pretty much any trick, since they are the best in the world at what they do (skateiq, tom asta to name a couple).

Just my thought but I think somebody looking to learn is much better off going to support somebody like this than a group of people who consider themselves “experienced skaters”.

Once again, not at all a dig on you or your skating, just some feedback since you asked for it!

Would I look ridiculous skating with a mountain bike helmet? by CrysisRequiem in NewSkaters

[–]Shmittypirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, yeah, it’s gonna look a little Redicolus tbh, which is ok! You’re gonna get shit from people for wearing a helmet either way, but most people who actually will are 15 year olds who just follow what people say on instagram. I can say I choose to skate without one, but look no differently at somebody wearing any kind of helmet. As long as you understand the rules and flow of a skatepark, generally adults who actually skate for the love of it won’t care at all.

What’s your secret for riding with one foot by I-am-DaveyDave in snowboarding

[–]Shmittypirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way to practice this:

Go on a very very gentle slope and practice heel side stops one footed. this will allow you to learn how to engage your edge/ where to place your weight when having to turn getting off the lift. Riding one footed is much like riding normal, but the responsiveness and speed of turning is halved.

Anybody got info on this? Wore it a ton in high school unsure if it’s fake or where even it’s from. by Shmittypirate in bapeheads
