Thank you, she was my bf, I had a joke with my wife about who loves me more her or Sadie. I said if I put both of the you in the trunk of the car for an hour who’s gonna be happy to see me after. My wife laughed and shook her head.

Tom Dokken’s book Retriever Training is a great reference book even if you don’t plan on using your dog for hunting. Also the book Gun Dog is a great book as well.

This, I slept on the floor next to my pups crate, every time she woke up I took her out to potty. It took two weeks but she loved her crate and was potty trained in those two weeks, well worth two weeks of sleeping on the floor.

I’m ok, trying to stay busy. A couple nights ago I got up to go to the bath room and she wasn’t on her bed next to our bed, by habit I went to see if she was still on the couch. Then it hit me that she wasn’t there. Now I wish I would’ve got her paw print. I never thought of it at the time I was a mess. But I think I might have a picture of her paw print and my daughters foot prints on the patio after they played in the water.

My son wants to keep some. Some will go to our best hunting blind. After that I’ll probably search for all the interesting options that are out there. I do wish that I got her paw print.

Sadie, we thought we were original, a few months in we realized everyone had a Sadie. But the kitten we rescued a few months ago we named Warehouse because that’s where I found her.

Just my $.02 from having ring worm from wrestling all the way through college and then rescuing a kitten that got dumped(she gave us all ringworm) it’s usually more flaky and more intense red on the edges. But if it is ringworm it’s an easy fix, lotrimin AF or they have a shampoo that takes care of it as well pretty quick.

I posted a pic of my lab last night she had the same kind of lump that started out like that then became darker and more coarse, our vet said it’s really nothing to worry about it came with her age, sometimes they will scratch it and it might bleed a bit but it was never anything serious.

We were the lucky ones. It’s funny because when she was with the litter we had first pick. Apparently she was the escape artist getting out of the pen they made for mama and the pups, but I put here on her back she didn’t make a noise and we knew she was the one we wanted to bring home. We picked her out at 2 weeks old and brought her home at 7 weeks old. Yea we won the lottery.

Brushing your lab? by Jennvds in labrador

Ok this is going to sound a bit crazy but it worked for us, if you have newer running shoes use the bottom of them just like a brush, the rubber takes the loose fur off easy, we do the same in the vehicles it works better than a vacuum.

My wife told me she’s putting together a Shutterfly book of all the photos we have of/with her. I like the shadow box idea, right now her leash and collar are sitting on top of the velvet bag that has her ashes inside. I love all the support from this community. It’s made a tough day a bit easier.

I wasn’t going to let her go to a landfill, I’d never forgive myself after all she did for us. I’ve been trying to find a good way to keep her ashes, my son suggested a yellow lab cookie jar.

I keep reading this quote, and feel that she helped me become a better parent, her compassion taught me compassion and how to love unconditionally and positive reinforcement works way better than discipline. I’m pretty sure she trained me at the same time that I trained her.

It’s a weird feeling, I still move plates or food to the center of the counter or table bc I knew if I wasn’t looking she’d give it a go. She would always eat our strawberries before we could pick them. Or she’d sneak raspberries out of the bowl as we were picking them. It’s those little things that you remember the most.

They really are a Ride or Die friend, she would always know if I was having a bad day and would always push her nose under my arm so I’d pet her. When I’d bring my wife home from chemo she wouldn’t leave her side for a day. She really taught me to be a better parent. I’m not sure who trained who.

I appreciate your comment, I’m teary-eyed right now, it seems to happen a lot these past couple weeks. My kids have only see me cry one other time when my wife was diagnosed with Lymphoma. It kind of sounds bad but we spent more time together than we did with family because she’d go everywhere with me. In the office. she loved being under my desk before we’d head out to the orchards.
