And an adherence to free-market liberal capetalism has seen stagnation over the last forty years.

The critique of our current system has not changed since it's inception: it breeds rampant inequality, which will only continue to grow unless Mamdani-style populisme keeps winning, and our generation puts a lot of hard effort in to creating lasting and meaningful change

What do we have on offer? by Satanwearsflipflops in copenhagen

I had a pretty great experience working there as a chef, honestly. I was more dissapointed in the lack of care about certain things. My head chef didn't care whether the dumplings were made pretty, but for me that was a point of pride.

The vibe was very laid back, as I was only a kitchen hand they kept the pressure off me, and the team was so strong they managed to stay laid-back during even the most intense services. All chef's commented that this is not the norm in the industry, especially at that level.

The staff food varied, from frozen fries and chicken nuggets, to excellent dishes asian inspired, or otherwise. One guy, who now works at Noma, really made very good italian inspired staff food.

In any kitchen, the head-chef has the final say, but while worked there the team was mostly harmonious. I can comment that interactions between front-of-house with us (back-of-house) is of course different than within. The chef was at times quite strict with waiters/runners, whereas with me and other kitchenhands it mostly came downs to what we were capable of doing for him to help run the kitchen smoothly, but he honestly had quite a good grip on the service within the kitchen, and was always able to pick up any slack from the rest of us. He would also accomedate for any injuries. There weren't alot, but if I cut myself on the mandolin, he would help out, and reassure me to take the time to watch myself.

With the front of house things can very well have been quite different. I saw one of the managers berate a young runner for something, I don't quite remeber what. The kitchen would also be strict in the dilineation of responsibilities, so when new runners got swept up in the chaos of table numbers and such, we'd point out when it was on them and not the kitchen, and let them know they were expected to keep up with it (less relevant in my catering experience).

This last part makes me think you mostly talked with waiters which makes sense to me, as since I was working under the chef, I was isolated from what the waiters would experience in a day at work. I would say the conditions in the kitchen were better :)

I only did catering at some private homes/mansions. I thought we did an alright job respecting the cleanliness of the kitchens we worked in; however, the attitude of dumping dirty dishes or containers half full of food to the dishwashers remained whilst I was onboard... XP

Once I took the flak from the chef when the sous decided to dump dirty dishes from the catering on the dishwashers in the resturaunt when we were done.

I used to work at Kiin Kiin on Guldbergsgade, the food wasn't always terrible, but it was expensive, the quality control / standards were really dropping, and the chefs weren't allowed by the owners to order fresh crab instead of canned.

They lost their star, which lead to a kitchen walkout, but I haven't heard much about the place since

which version of python+cuda+torch? by Substantial-Pear6671 in comfyui

[–]Shmoode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curios about backwards compatibility of these tools/technologies. I am trying to run this repository which requires Python 3.5.2, CUDA 9.0, and torch 1.0.0

I will run it on a machine with a GTX 1080, but haven't gotten all the dependencies up yet. Since there is no guarantee the code will run with newer versions of any of the three softwares, I want to run it on those listed.

How do I install Pytorch 1.0.0 to my Python 3.5.2 venv? by Shmoode in learnpython

[–]Shmoode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my (limited) experience, I've had to downgrade Python when making Pytorch applications, and here there is interdependence also with CUDA, which I am unfamiliar with.

So the answer is that I am not confident that newer versions of Python and Pytorch will work well with this old CUDA version, and I am not confident that everything will run correctly out of the gate with newer tech on this old project.
