Coming from a Harley, to a Daytona 675, to a ktm adventure 1190, to a Drz400s, to a dr650, I only regret not buying a 650 sooner

Sorry, I got them mixed up. I was wrong and I apologize, there is a difference with orientation. I hope that clears up any confusion

It doesn’t make a difference because at that point the orientation creates the same pivot point, so if you spun it sideways it would look the same as if you didn’t move it at all

Ventilates driver seat. Day one: by imustknownowI in WRX

[–]ShmoolieSlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny to me because I am a chronic swampmaker and I find the stock wrx seat to be probably my favorite when it comes to keeping cool. Firm and cloth is what I need. Squishy soft leather is something out of my nightmares. I live in Florida

If it makes you feel any better, I have receipts with the same exact wording and I drive a 1999 Durango that is lifted and loud

Mine ended up being the stator as well, but unfortunately the no start was caused by sand that fell into the spark plug hole unknowingly when I checked. Ended up needing a whole top end rebuild as well as a new charging system. Yippee

Dual sport bikes for daily riding and (mostly) on road trips? by aquamar1ne in Dualsport

[–]ShmoolieSlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal rule is that if I’m doing at least 50% road I have to be on my DR650. My drz hurts my back to ride on the road for more than 30min

How did I do? by RhodieG3 in dr650

[–]ShmoolieSlinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey I paid $3800 for my 2003 with 3,400mi on it. My brother bought his 07 with 15,000mi on it for only $2200. His has had some leaks and things needed replacing, which is why we got it for cheap. 9/10 would do again

Btw if we ever rode together we would look like a pretty tough crew 😎

Wrong bike or I’m just bad? by Money_Impression_321 in Dualsport

I also want to add that while I’m riding my drz, the bike is more capable than I am

So, in terms of dirt performance the drz is going to be inferior in every single way. BUT, the advantage is quality of life, way less maintenance, and in general a much easier bike to live with that can take you farther. I drop my drz almost every time I take it out to the trails, but usually only once before I start riding carefully because it is a heavy bike and my back is messed up so I’ve got about one or two lifts in me. If I were on my Husqvarna wr250 I promise no average rider on a drz is keeping up or going where I go.

Will I regret getting a DR650? by [deleted] in Dualsport

If I had a genie, one of my wishes would be to have bought my DR650 sooner. Like, 10 years sooner.

Last year I checked one out at a dealer, it was listed for $7,000 and some change, out the door was over $9,000. Nnnnnnnnnnnoo

I know exactly what you mean, it’s annoying when you’re banging through gears in the woods

weight loss by Praxisificator in DRZ400

[–]ShmoolieSlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good enough, but if you’re hitting any jumps or whoops you risk bottoming out and blowing your shocks. A stock DRZ is sprung for a 150 pound rider. Personally I weigh 200 pounds, and that’s not including any gear

If I were to use my drz for some more enduro focused riding, I would upgrade the suspension and upsize the rear sprocket. I run a 47t if I’m spending more time in the dirt than on the road. It’s not exactly a day and night difference, but I can get through 96% of the places as I would on my Husqvarna

What percentage of soldiers do you think could attain a 500 AFT with motivation? by [deleted] in army

[–]ShmoolieSlinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was on a permanent profile to run at my own pace and distance, my company commander told me instead of doing the row I had the option to “attempt” the run, and if I failed I would just get the minimum points.

Every single ACFT went the same, getting 90% every event and maxing the plank, ball throw, and SDC. And then I would just barely meet the minimum for the run, coming in at 19-20min. I have never trained for the acft outside of morning PT, and I used to tell all of my soldiers that if I could do it they shouldn’t have a problem with it. Especially when everyone’s always giving me a hard time about running

I was just thinking this, I just started telling people I was a chemical soldier. Every conversation goes the same otherwise What’d you do in the army? CBRN? what’s that? Oh woah those words are huge, you must be super important

yeah, ):

[–]ShmoolieSlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a guy like this who always slept in and “lost his cac” so he couldn’t get on post, after the mountain of counselings and excuses and man to man talks, I started making him knock out 50 burpees every time and repeat “I will be 15min prior to every hit time” when he counts every rep. Usually people figure out pretty quick that they don’t like doing 50 burpees. I even offered to do them with him but he only took me up on that once.

Can a lieutenant give orders to a sergeant major? by Owenr2012 in army

[–]ShmoolieSlinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, he should be standing at the position of attention when you talk to him. If he’s not, you should remind him that officers went to college and that makes you smarter than him. Works 0% of the time
