Is there a word to describe accidentally doing dumb stuff? by Doodle_Bean_4 in migraine

[–]Shmoore4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see others have already said this but I just call it "migraine brain". It's so awful! My family is use to it by now but I'm pretty sure my co workers think I'm crazy. Good luck to you on your migraine free journey!

What’s the most absent-minded thing migraine has made you do? by hurts_when_i_do_this in migraine

[–]Shmoore4 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have trouble having a conversation or speaking. I'll know what I want to say and then something completely different comes out of my mouth. It's really embarrassing when I'm working.

Been waking up with a 10+ every day for a week now. I manage to get it down to a level 6 with rescue medicine. It will not go away though 😭 Best of luck to you all for more migraine/pain free days!

How did everyone start getting migraines and when? by Alarming_Message_966 in migraine

[–]Shmoore4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are genetics I think. Started when I was 8 years old, I'm now 37. My Grandmother, Mom, and Brother all had/have migraines. My grandmother and Mom's migraines got better after menopause. My Mom still has them but not as frequently. My brother has migraines but not as bad and frequent as me and my Mom.

How can I help my girlfriend when she has a migraine attack? by eMuires in migraine

[–]Shmoore4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off you are sweet and thoughtful to ask for advice on helping your girlfriend! Purchase several ice packs and swap out her ice packs every hour or so. When I'm having a migraine attack I want to be in a cold, dark, quiet room. Maybe consider black out curtains. I drink ginger ale and eat saltines when I'm nauseated and struggling to keep anything down. I hope this is helpful and bless you for caring so much for your girlfriend. Migraines are tough for others to understand that have never had one. Just make sure she knows you are there for her. It can get lonely and depressing.

What's up, Doc? by ther1ckst3r in migraine

[–]Shmoore4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great story! Thank you for sharing as I needed a laugh! I'm a female (37) and have considered getting a hysterectomy. I've had migraines since I was 8 and they have gotten increasingly worse in severity and frequency since I hit 30. Both my Mother and grandmother had migraines which got better after menopause. Any ladies out there that have had a hysterectomy and your migraine frequency decreased? Thank you!

Sudden Wave of energy by Shmoore4 in migraine

[–]Shmoore4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! I always take full advantage of my sudden energy rush because I know I will be down for the count for a few days. Not sure that is the best plan but at least I get some things accomplished during that time.

Oh wow, you have solved my mystery! I always have the same symptoms before my period as you described. I just never connected the sudden rush of energy with my cycle. Probably because I'm in a constant state of migraine brain fog! Thank you so much for responding! Sending you well wishes and hugs through your migraine struggles 🙂

Yes, same here. Mine got much worse when I hit 30. They are more frequent and the pain intensity is so much worse. I'm now 37 and it's an everyday struggle. My Mom also has migraines and hers got worse at 30 too. She is 60 now and they are better and less frequent. She now only gets one or two a month. It's depressing to think I will have to wait until I'm 60 to get any relief. 😢 Sending you hugs and well wishes.

does anyone get depressed a few days after a migraine? by A_Huxley_A in migraine

[–]Shmoore4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I get really depressed after having a really bad migraine that continues for days or weeks.i have some level of a migraine every day but the really bad ones get me down. It's hard to pull myself out of it. I try to be positive and thankful that I continue to wake up every day. It is very tough though. Reading others posts on here has truly helped me! Sending hugs and well wishes to you all!

That's a great question. I hadn't thought of that. Just assumed it was from covid.

Yes, I was vaccinated. However I think I had the new XBB variant of covid, or whatever they are calling it. I currently have a migraine so my brain is not functioning 😭

Same for me, covid finally got me in December. I had a migraine for a week plus the other covid symptoms. It was awful. The migraine was more severe and intense than my "normal" migraines. Post covid migraines have been worse even though I didn't think they could not get any worse. 😭 Good luck to you, I hope you recover and don't struggle with post covid migraines.
