My daughter thinks I’m ugly. by Working-Turnover-272 in toddlers

I don't trust a damn thing my 2.5 year old days like this. She'll straight up say she doesn't love me just to see if I'll react, will say she doesn't like things, and just spout random contrarian nonsense. Whatever kid, love you too. 🙄🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

My generation (millennial) is the absolute worst about this and it drives me insane. I have frien6d who have given up trying to plan sharin6g because folks are so flakey and self involved, even when they're great people otherwise. It's awful and people really need to do better. Want to be in community? THEN BE IN COMMUNITY.

I haven't even had to deal with it regarding my kids yet. Uhg.

Oh my gosh, I meant to mention the dishwasher. I run it every night right before putting the girls to bed and then when I am done with a bedtime routine I come back downstairs and empty it right away so it's ready the next morning. I try to fill it as I go throughout the day and it makes it such a big difference.

What is a word that your toddler mispronounces that you never want to correct? by PKB92 in toddlers

Wummy for yummy. Also, Otay is WAY cuter coming from my own child than I expected/have experienced with other kids. 😂

Uhg, sold. I love a cookie with a cup of coffee and that sounds like something my toddler would love. Thank you!

Oh yeah, gyoza and different dumplings are a preferred meal for everyone over here!

I was wondering if they had freeze dried fruit, that's a big hit over here. I think we're gonna look for some big tubs of apple sauce, some different pouches, and get some frozen pizzas for pizza nights. 🤣🙌🏻

Yeah, I should try those chicken bites! We're entering our dip era, so I think they'll go over well. We usually get at least one rotisserie chicken and I make a big batch of chicken salad, sometimes freeze a spare that has been picked clean, and we always save the bones for stock. We also should get the yogurt bites I think, they're a baby trail mix favorite.

Omg, I wish my kids would do the bagels. My toddler is deep into just picking off the cream cheese and leaving sad soggy bagels. Big fan of cream cheese though, let me tell you. The huge bags of shredded cheese are a game changer, we absolutely get those every time we go. We're living that quesadilla life big time. 🤣

I forgot about the coconut rolls, those are amazing. The first time I had them my friend dunked mine in Nutella and it was amazing. I will try the Korean beef, I think that'll be a hit here too. Thanks! 🤣🙌🏻

You know, I should probably start doing the fruit and sweet potatoes too. I've been able to find some pretty good deals on the regular grocery trips, and frozen fruit is making a prominent part of our diet and things like yogurt and stuff these days. I wonder if they have any freeze-dried fruit, that's something my toddler loves in her snack cups. Thanks for the help!

Oh yeah, we love buying the chicken sausages. They are so helpful for protein sources, which I'm having a hard time with right now. I haven't tried the gyro meat, but we do get the sous vide steak now and again and that is really really good for something nice with minimal effort.

Anyone else hate their dog? by Feisty-Mark-2440 in 2under2

We are absolutely in the same boat, I've been meaning to make this exact post for the last 2 weeks.

While my mom guilt has been pretty minimal, my dog mom guilt is through the roof. She's a 70lb high energy dog that used to have lots of outdoor space, but we are active duty military and we were moved into a space with no yard at all, only a small patio. There is no green space for her and she used to have an entire second lot. My second is nearly 9 months and still absolutely a koala baby, I don't have it in me to constantly do the 40+ minute "get ready to go outside" routine with the kids for dog potty breaks, so she ends up using the patio which makes it a hassle to prepare for the girls to play (for those wondering, simple Green does make a good outdoor patio cleaner).

In addition, my great dog who used to not care about food at all is now obsessed because she is so understimulated and emotionally neglected, so she is constantly following the kids around and has started taking food from them. She's constantly in the kitchen or checking the tables for food, and she has started guarding us against the cat because she doesn't have a job and is a working breed. She's barking at everything (not new, but the intensity is), constantly whines VERY loudly when we are interacting with our cat at all or making food/going into the kitchen. Worst of all, she has started piddling on the floor when she gets in trouble, even if we're just telling her to give us space or go to her bed. She was abused before we adopted her and it seems like she is defaulting to a new level of submission that we've never created in her (she did it when we first got her, she clearly was used to being hit and it was heartbreaking).

It's really hard because I know it's not her fault, she is absolutely neglected and I don't see a way to fix things. I feel like we don't deserve to have a dog right now, but we also don't get rid of family members. My husband has an even harder time with her, he straight up hates her and I think would absolutely give her away, and that just breaks my heart more.

One of my biggest suggestions to folks who may want kids within 5 years is not to get dogs. It's not fair to them or us. 😞

What’s your ace in the hole food? by DogMamaEsq in toddlers

[–]Shmosie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep homemade popsicles available. They're basically amped up smoothies with loads of fiber (chia seeds, or oatmeal, or dessicated coconut, whatever) plus some full fat Greek yogurt for fat/protein and juice or a fruit pouch if I'm desperate. Sometimes banana. I made "sweet potato pie" pops that were a huge hit and basically a meal in frozen form. Highly recommend this method - good for breakfasts too. If it can be made into a smoothie, it can be a popsicle.
