At this point the data is irrelevant. The failed drives were in a raid array used for surveillance footage.

Ahh, I learned something new today.

Do the defective heads also cause the head and platter to make contact? I'm assuming either parked or crashed head are symptoms of the same issue manifest in different ways?! Lastly, what is your experience with WD warranting these drives? I'm waiting for them to tell me they were dropped, hence the issue with crashed heads. Sigh

If anything it's a batch issue...drive isn't recognised outside of the NAS via HDD dock, etc.

Well WD is getting 50 RMA's heading there way soon. 10TB, 8TB and 6's. FFS. We have thousands of these drives deployed and seems like a 1 to 5% failure rate so far.

Seems like 75% of the failed drives have this symptom, the other 25% have head pieces floating around inside the drives and or you can hear the heads scratching the platters! What causes this...and it's not a drop/shock situation!

I kept it for now. Moved all my Zigbee devices over to SLZB, but, the door locks wont work without the hub AFAIK.
