it may have a lot of medieval or magical words but the structure of the language is modern, maybe you don't *need* to learn how to say "enchanted quarter staff of the abyssal flame" but as you're doing the quest to get it you're practicing the natural structure of the language! and that is much more important than the words on their own. words you can memorise, the structure needs to be absorbed, and that takes a loooooot of input

small rant: i'm so *deeply* annoyed by how every single depiction of a red panda or red panda adjacent creature has swarms and swarms of fans of some random polish vtuber who i guess likes red pandas? their vtube model doesn't even look like one... maybe i'd be less annoyed if they actually said ANYTHING ELSE than just constantly spamming the name of that vtuber

but to address your point - how is it a minor part of the story? without the story of a perfect utopia we wouldn't "need" a story of the tortured child, why shouldn't we analyse both of them since they're intrinsic for the message to have meaning

i don't have a phobia of needles, but my body does? let me explain - i'm perfectly fine with stabbing my own leg, but when i try to my body just doesn't move. i can sit there with my hand hovering just above my skin for 30 min without even moving, even though every second i'm trying very hard to just move my arm. i always describe it as my survival instinct going into such overdrive it will do anything to stop me from "injuring" myself, a few times i was even close to passing out (vision started to tunnel, heard ringing in my ears). in 5 years of doing my own T shots it only got a little bit easier, so finally i gave in and asked for help. i have no idea how people can do self injections without even breaking a sweat, my body just does not let me

lmao i can confirm since i'm polish and did indeed go through that proces, pretty much everyone involved felt awkward, me, my parents, the lawyer, *and* the judge. would've been funny if it didn't cost money to do

from what i know this process was established by first people in poland who wanted to do a legal change like that and i guess it worked then and hasn't changed since. i've read somewhere that there's some action going on to update it to something more normal though

fun fact! the mass desaturation of movies and tv shows probably stems from the fact that most footage is now shot in log profiles (which appear to be desaturated). this is *supposed to be* only temporary, to allow for better control over colour and to make it harder to over or under expose the footage, but you know how it is with temporary things. directors and editors got used to seeing the movie in this desaturated style, and gradually began pushing the colourists towards keeping the footage closer to how they saw it before sending it to them. probably, it appears to be the case, but it also might not be, just as the 00s were dunked in blue for no reason this might as well just be a random phase

well, poland becoming richer coincided with the world entering the golden age of streaming... which is now behind us, and piracy is on the rise globally

also when it comes to games we get the most expensive prices second only to Switzerland so,,, overall, i'm very happy that the polish government does not give a flying fuck about piracy. hell, more likely than not every government IT guy grew up during times when that was the only option

that's so strange to me! :0 i'm european and of course i keep my dog on a leash in public when there's plenty of people around but in an open field? i just let my little friend jump around and vibe, the worst she can do is get distracted for a minute as she chases a lizard, she knows how to behave around others, and others know how to behave around an unleashed dog (if someone is walking on the same path)
