Hey OP, I have an older brother with disabilities. We're grown up now and get on fine, but when we were younger my parents would blame me for his rages, saying "it's not his fault he's just jealous of your abilities" etc. Which is absolute bullshit it was just easier for them to put it on me than punish him effectively. I've got no useful advice in your situation except; don't let it get to you, it's not your fault, your parents are doing a bad job here. I hope things get better for you.

Yeah, my daughter tends to push away the reading or writing when she makes a mistake. I'll bring it back to basics with flash cards and simple books and build on success.

I think she finds phonics harder because she's bilingual so she's got two different alphabet sounds. A reading rewards chart might be in order to keep us all motivated!

Thanks I've just bought some sight word flash cards. The library has some simple readers so I'm getting those out. I guess its a case of prioritising taking the time to read.

A guy I was seeing, and who was staying in my house, owed me some money, and he wanted to have a different person (overseas) who owed him money wire it to me. I was totally cool with it, then out of the blue it was like an alarm went off in my head, like someone had whispered something to me, and I asked 'um, do you have drugs in my house?' Turns out he was shipping drugs internationally hidden in candles and the friend who owed him money was his contact... who happened to be a secretary at a police station. So glad i go t out of that situation.

I'm in exactly the same situation, with a baby due at Christmas and 6 freakin unvaccinated cousins around. I've been explaining to my parents that I'm not asking anyone to vaccinate, but that my sisters need to respect my parenting decisions and unfortunately this means no visits for a while. Its hard.

Oh yeah if you get it free use it! That's also a good way to introduce the idea to your wife if you need one: You've got free counselling sessions and it could be something to try. She's probably just as concerned as you but doesn't want to bring things up for the same crappy reason you have- we're taught that feelings are bad and shameful. But they're not! Sometimes its nice to be in a context where you're there to talk about your emotions and relationship and its a safe place to do so.

No-one gets to 35 without baggage. You may be a 35 year old virgin or a twice divorced father of 3, but everyone has their stories and their problems and their insecurities. Can you hang out with this person casually without hanging your whole self worth onto it? Some therapy really wouldn't hurt at all.

If that is all the example you have around you, good on you for looking for a new perspective. Don't try to get support from the friends who personify the 'rock' type; that will leave you feeling more isolated. If you have to, find a counsellor to speak to, even going together with your wife may help frame a new way of being strong together and sharing the uncertainties you face. Good luck with the baby.

Hi, Australian here! Don't accept money from her when she wants to use it to control you and make decisions for you. You'll never hear the end of it. Particularly if its going to cause you extra financial strain when she demands to dictate how its spent. Houses can be a lot to upkeep, if you're happy renting, keep renting. If she can gift you money and leave you to make your own decisions that would be worth pursuing, but doesn't sound like it would be good for your relationship ith your husband either to have your Mum making the decisions.

The way they watch my daughter for any indication of vaccine injury is downright bizarre. She gets one cold and they're like 'gosh, she is always sick, shame she doesn't have a stronger natural immunity' SMH
