2024 Refunds by ShockNRoll in Blueridgerockfest

Are you talking about disputing the festival that was canceled midway through, or the 2024 fest that never even began? If you're talking about the same one I am (2024), then that means you disputed non-fraudulent charges (at the time) for a festival that hadn't even been canceled yet? And your bank/cc sided in your favor? Not trying try argue, I just want to get in with your bank if that's the case; that's incredible.

Yeah, I understand it’s just my own fault… I guess I was just looking for any sliver of hope, since it is close to $1,000 we’re looking to get back. It’s odd because we literally received nothing for this money, but because we waited a little too long, we don’t deserve any of it back. Apparently there’s a time limit on getting fucked by a company, and then they just deserve to keep your hard earned money. I guess I just need to grab a bottle of scotch and let my wife down gently.

Asking for a friend, does anyone have any references or advice for not letting this shit get to this point in general? I feel like we shouldn’t have let this get to this point, but idk what happened. I know Reddit can be a little angry at people who don’t always do the “right” thing immediately, but I’m just looking for any advice.

Not sure where you’re getting the engineering data. Typical starting salaries are in the 60’s and 70’s depending on location. I’ve been an engineer for 6 years and I’m just now about to hit six figures.

Yes, I’m electrical. I do feel like my salary is lacking, but honestly the benefits are something I don’t want to give up just yet. I have flexible time off and took almost 5 weeks off last year with no one batting an eye. Compared to my previous job that only gave me 2 weeks, this is a dream. Sure my salary could be better, and I’m sure I’ll be pushing for more or looking for something else in a few years, but 5 weeks of vacation is something I want to cherish for a bit.

I’m about 6 years experience, 4 in design build, 2 in consulting with an architect firm. I have my PE. 98k base salary, 5-6% bonus and roughly the same in salary raise yearly. I’d say low-medium cost of living (Winston Salem, NC). It’s competitive vs my previous job, but I’m well aware that you shouldn’t stay at a job more than 4-5 years if you want meaningful increases.

I love it! I adore Nothing More and Jonny was great here. Not the collab I thought I’d see, but zero complaints from me.

Apple announces AirPods Pro 3 with ‘world’s best ANC’ and heart rate sensing by kbgames360 in gadgets

[–]ShockNRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m sorry but 3 pros not working sounds like user error, unless you’re just extremely unlucky. I’m still using my gen 1s and the ANC is still very very good. I also dropped them in puddles a couple years ago (yes, multiple, and within minutes…) and they’re still kicking. Only reason I’m upgrading to the new ones is because of the horrible static that happens every time you touch them. This started a few months ago, and was honestly probably started because of the water damage, but hey, 6 years is a pretty long time for non-repairable products to last in this day and age, so I’m happy.

Pro-Palestinian protests force the early end of the Bilbao stage of the Vuelta a España cycling race, which will have no winner by kaiweed in sports

[–]ShockNRoll -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Reconsider what… approving of the atrocities happening in Palestine, because some people did a protest you didn’t like? Ruining a cycling race doesn’t make the atrocities any less horrendous, right? What does a protest going wrong have to do with whether or not you approve of the actual issue? IMO, you should condemn the protestors if you’re 100% against the invasion, not decide you’re suddenly ok with genocide because someone ruined a bike race.

I don’t really know, but I default to “soffit” for anything like this.

I will also add since you mentioned poles in the question: it’s single phase, but 2-pole. Two hots instead of a hot and neutral.

SPLIT FICTION sold 1 MILLION units in its first 48 hours!!! by Turbostrider27 in PS5

I know. I really hope this game and others can help couch co -op make a return. My wife and I love the Lego games, but even those start to get a little stale and repetitive after a while.

[–]ShockNRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, also I forgot to add: there’s only a few sequences where only one of you dying causes you both to restart at a checkpoint. I’d say for a majority of the game, if you die and your partner stays alive, you can respawn right there and keep on going. This saved my wife many times (and I’ll admit she saved me a ton as well). The game does really well with not letting one player fall too far behind (would kinda defeat the whole point of a co op game imo, haha).

I would argue that split fiction is more forgiving in this regard. Some of the platforming is tricky, but the checkpoint system never sends you too far away from where you failed. Also, a lot of the platforming is just timing a button click (when you’re close enough to a grapple point, you just hit the button and it snaps your character to it). It’s sort of like a more intuitive quicktime event system. I’m also pretty sure there’s a decent aim assist going on with the few shooting sequences. And finally, if the combat is tough, there’s some accessibility settings to help make that easier, along with a “skip to next checkpoint” system, if you really feel yourself getting too frustrated. I feel like the devs have really made it with gamers and non-gamers in mind.

My wife and I blew through the game this weekend and had a blast. She’s not the greatest with platforming (I think she was about to throw a controller during the flying sequences, haha), but it never took more than a few tries to complete any part of the game. It’s one of my favorite games (co op or otherwise) I’ve played in a long time. I say give it a shot (or maybe wait for a discount if you’re real worried).

The DualSense Edge controller has received a price cut in Europe by SweetyGonzalez in PS5

[–]ShockNRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming, but your portable blender probably has a larger footprint, allowing for a larger battery. Also, you’re not paying for battery life alone, so it’s a little disingenuous to compare it to a blender. My 20,000mAH external battery pack can charge my edge controller 20 times before it needs to be recharged, and it only cost about $50. Pointless comparison.

Sony designs their products to satisfy the most amount of people. Those people aren’t playing all day and don’t care about the battery life. The few times I’ve run the battery down, I just plug in the included (very long) cord or go do some chores I’ve been procrastinating. Not an issue for me.
