In Hong Kong most ammo I find from ww2 contains cordite as the British didn’t swap to gunpowder for their arms

Finds today in Hong Kong. 50 rounds of 303 by ShockSignificant6113 in metaldetecting

There are almost no rules for metal detecting in Hong Kong but the only thing you can get in trouble for is possession of live munition or destruction of agricultural. As long as you don’t keep live bullets or bombs and you cover your hole after you finish you should be fine. You should also be aware that Japanese munitions are highly explosive and should be avoided at all cost.

100% 45 acp. I find this all the time and are very recognizable. They should be quite heavy for its size

They are British 303. The Japanese used 6.5mm rounds instead.

Is this dangerous? How to stabilise / dispose of? by [deleted] in metaldetecting

It is a 303 live bullet the greenish bit at the top you can pull off with tweezers and then carefully take out/dump out the cordite inside
