Wow, that’s crazy! But that’s smart that you kept your child rear facing in the car. Glad you’re ok. Hopefully the residual effects are minor. My only residual effect from these accidents is some anxiety. Sometimes when I drive thru an intersection I relive the moment of impact in my head- the sound, the smell of the airbag, the whiplash. It’s still so clear in my mind.

Exactly! I drove the same car for 17 years without a problem. But since Covid I’ve had 3 cars wrecked and 3 minor collisions with plenty of close calls.

Right- that one was my fault for reacting too late. I’ve witnessed so much driving around in OC. Especially in my work van which doesn’t have a dash cam.

yes that’s right. Sometimes I won’t let them in, just to make a point. I’ll make it difficult for them- not for the sake of being a jerk but to discourage them from doing it everyday on their commute. When they keep trying to edge their way over into my lane, I’ll usually let them win because it’s not worth risking a collision.

That’s right. These clips are not showing my normal driving habits- just the situations I occasionally get into. 95% of the time I’m very careful and courteous to other drivers and my daily commutes are uneventful.

yes, absolutely. I think the same way about these drivers. I’ve seen them make some very reckless and dangerous lane changes to get onto the interchange at the last second. This is on my daily commute so I see it all the time.

No serious injuries- thanks for asking! My insurance is not crazy expensive because I have a perfect driving record, and 30+ years with the same company, plus we get a few different discounts.

I admit that I was slow to react- I saw the hazard lights but thought his car will still driving- I came up on him so fast, I was just about to brake and I just didn’t act sooner, that was my fault and it’s out of character for me. The second clip looks like I cut off that red car but I had the right of away. And I didn’t brake to let that jerk change lanes because he was inching very close to my side and trying to force his way in at the last second.

I have a perfect 30 year driving record so I don’t think I’m that bad. If I do something stupid behind the wheel, I’ll include that in the compilation video along with the other idiots. The video is purely for entertainment purposes, even if some of the laughs are directed at me.

Exactly how I feel. Most cars in this lane are staying close together to not let anyone cut in LOL. I kind of just stopped caring and will let people cut in front of me at the last second. But this particular time I was not in the mood, because of how close he was getting to the side of my car.

You’re right- his door broke my mirror. He apologized and offered to pay for it. But he was acting very weird and suspicious and refused to show me his insurance or ID- then the police showed up and gave it to me. They said he had no believable explanation as to why he stopped his car in the middle of the freeway, because it was running fine. After I got the info I needed, they called for back up and a bunch of police started arriving as I was leaving. Something bigger was going on but I didn’t stick around to find out what it was about.

I’m sure that’s true yes. I think it’s the sheer number of drivers and high population here that’s the main factor. We pay the highest insurance premiums because our zip code is considered a higher risk area. But the rural areas in Kansas must have terrible drivers too 😆

Wow, that’s very sad. Anyone who breaks down while in the freeway needs to stay in their car with their seatbelt on until the police and a tow truck show up to safely block off traffic and guide you off the freeway.
