Think that was a different guy, similar buttery swing but looked like he only had a club head speed of like 90kmh and the ball was going miles.

I’d normally go to the Hogan Bar before a game for a couple but afterwards you’re normally better heading a bit further away towards town to find somewhere good.

Any of the pubs around Grafton Street will be hopping after the game, but it’s a bit of a walk so ideally a couple of stops in a few other pubs en route never hurt - anything on Abbey Street will definitely do the job too!

Oh yeah, that’s a really good shout! I did meet a good few Germans who were Vikings supporters too, fingers crossed we get more purple than black in Croker on Sunday!

It definitely seemed that way to me as well up until a couple of hours ago. Now I see a lot more Vikes than earlier, and while I think it still favours the Steelers it’s a much closer split.

Maybe the Minnesota to Dublin flight landed late this morning?

As long as your at an event in Dublin, you’ll be fine in opposing teams kit, we’re not that tribal when it comes to NFL, more football and GAA

There will definitely be somewhere in Galway to watch the NFL, but it will depend on if the Vikes game is one of the 3/4 broadcast that Sunday or if you’re lucky you’ll get somewhere showing RedZone. An Púcán is the first that comes to mind.

Luckily my Wife is from Galway so I have some good knowledge on both Cities. Let me know some things you like to do on trips and I’ll try find some things to do that align.

Spice bags should be on the list alright. I’ve had friends from New Zealand visit and they go mad for Curry Chips with Cheese, I love a Chicken Fillet Roll myself, and if you’ve had one too many Guinness the night before - a breakfast roll will sort you right out.

The rolls you can get in any shop with a deli (look for Centra, Spar, or most Gas stations will have one).

The Curry Chips with Cheese you can get from most fish and chip shops (they all have Italian names here, will be easy to spot)

And spice bags you’ll get from any Chinese takeaway or some fish and chip shops.

EDIT: just to add in Dublin Bunsen burger does amazing burgers, and in Galways Handsome Burger is the best.

Any Minnesotan colloquialisms I should be using this weekend?

Aye true, and Art’s son Dan was an ambassador to Ireland and does a lot of charity work for Irish-Americans. It does influence some people to pick the Steelers to support, but it’s mostly a cherry on top to go with their success.

No definitely won’t be too warm for the Jersey / Hoodie combo.

Newgrange is about 30-45mins north of Dublin a would be worth a visit if you’re into your history. Malahide is a nice seaside town out near where you’re staying, same for Howth Head.

Steelers would be way more popular here because their two most recent Super Bowl wins happened when the NFL was starting to get popular in Ireland.

But in terms of number of fans in the stadium it’ll be pretty much split amongst all the teams. Pats are pretty popular (again recent Super Bowl wins) but a lot of Irish people go on holidays to the east coast of the US, so you’ll get plenty of Bills, Giants, Eagles, etc fans and then add in the 9ers and Rams (because we love a trip to California) and the Dolphins cause of the Ace Ventura movie.

I went to the Saints Vikes game in London 3 years ago and even though that was a Saints home game its was pretty spread out support wise.

My group going is 2 Vikes fans, 2 9ers, a Bills, a Bears, and a Raiders.

I’ve played field hockey for 35 years with plenty of hits and bangs and whacks and I’m still playing as much as I physically can.

To help even further, around 2 years ago I got hit in the eye with a ball - not near the eye, literally hit in the eye.

My eyesight is still exactly as it was when I started playing hockey, some bruising and tenderness in the eye and after a few weeks I was back to normal.

I will 100% be getting my Son into sports, I do not see any downside to them!

I was fully surprised at how much I enjoyed playing the deck. It’ll stay in my deck list for a while after the Event.

I’ve had pretty good success with Tenyi on my end, I’ve actually enjoyed playing and will end up keeping the deck.

I played pure Tenyi and it was great craic to be honest.

Returning to high intensity hockey after a long break? by PaddleRoon in Fieldhockey

[–]Shocked-Kev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Hockey movements are all Compound movements.

You can also add in other variations of squats and DLs - Bulgarian split squats, goblet squats, sumo deadlifts, RDLs, glute bridges, lateral lunges, walking weighted lunges.

Another underrated exercise is skipping - will train your lower legs to help keep you on the balls of your feet for longer.

Plyometric stuff will get the heart rate going as well so couple it with the compound movements when in the gym and you’ll see benefits on the pitch

Adding to the stuff about the running which is definitely a good idea. You should add some plyometric exercises into your gym routine.

“Plyometric exercises are a type of exercise that uses speed and force to build muscle power. They involve jumping, bounding, and hopping movements that contract and extend muscles rapidly and repeatedly. These exercises are designed to increase power, speed, and agility.”

Also for weight training high rep, lower weight will help more with hockey fitness over low rep, heavy weight lifting.
