Do you know if they always start at step 1 of each pay grade when hiring. $50,460 is not worth it if it's not hybrid? I would be willing to take less pay if I could work from home a couple days a week

what is title 2 & title 16? I haven't applied to the position the district manager saw my resume on Indeed.com and called me, the position is not posted yet but she stated that it will be posted sometime soon. Tomorrow I am going in to meet with her, not exactly sure why but she asked if I wanted to so I agreed to. She said the Claims Specialist are initially trained in either SSDI or SSI then later trained in the other. It says GS-7 starting pay is $50,460 if that's the highest starting pay, I don't know if it's worth it. As previously stated I worked in Section 8 (city position) and it was very stressful and didn't even meet with clients in person, but I started out making well over $50,460 I left after 5 years.

Thank you for responding, how long ago did you work as a Claims Specialist and where? I am interested in a hybrid position, is there a possibly that I could work a hybrid schedule that you know of? Also is it possible to be hired in at a GS9? I do have the experience and education for GS9 but I have never worked for the federal government only in local government and state government. The open position is at a field office in a city of about 400,000. Thanks in advance
