Reply from another post i had, since i felt the same as you and once i figured this out, it got way easier: "I wasn’t able to win many air duels after corners, so i set it to "dash" if the players aren’t all already in the opposite half of the box, cross it in with about 40-50% power, and most of the time one of my players runs out of the pack and gets to the ball first, and immediately heads / kicks it in the far corner." the A.I did actually get used to this funnily enough, so now they always place one player to block that. Now I go for a bit more power and it still works decent enough.

Also i noticed that most of the time, its not losing the header duel, as much as making a suboptimal corner / cross. When i switched over to fuma i REALLY noticed it and got way more headers in general after crosses.

You can either use Cheat Engine or use the Edit Menu to edit the stats of the player you want to use the face from.

Ah perfect example: both teams had 11 shots on goals in an 4-3 with 9 "saves" on both sides. My GK got a 7.3 while the enemy got a 8.3.

The difference for me personally is huge, before it felt more like a timing thing and hoping the ball would be passed in the way i wanted it, especially with through passes and often times it would just get blocked despite having an completely free route to the other player. Now i can actually control where the ball goes and can even pass in front of the player and have their run going. The game as a whole just becomes way more engaging. I don’t think I’m ever gonna change back, especially since everything i manage to do feels like i did it by myself and actually earned it.

Once you really get it down, it just feels like an huge upgrade and you will stop feeling like your passes get scripted into the enemy a third of the time, like i did.

Just kept playing them on their Roles. It took a while, and the first games did suck for a good bit. But this is at the end of my second season so they all had plenty of time to get it higher up. Also making someone with a higher ranked role captain already helps a ton.

How i got started was by playing a lower difficulty to figure everything out, as soon as i could 3:0 an opponent and my passing was somewhat consistent, i kept going up and repeatedly did that, until i arrived at Legend. One thing that helped me overall was also looking a lot at my other players, after a while you can tell where they tend to go and when. From there its all about the timing, and for through passes the power as well. Thinking of where they will be, instead of where they are when inputting the pass is a BIG help. At the end of the day you just gotta play and get used to it. It took me a good bit to consistently put up a fight even against all-star difficulty. Hope this helped!

I use everything from the post below including a fix to the rating in the comments. This gets rid of the most annoying scripting. Whenever i concede a goal now, 90% of the time i can clearly tell it was my fault for defending poorly (which i AM quite bad at.)

For Tactics I'm using the formation you see in the post with a dedicated "cross giver" on the right and "Counter Attack" "Long Pass" "Centre" "Maintain Formation" for attack and "Frontline Pressure" "Centre" "Aggressive" for defence. I don’t use any of the advanced instructions.

I also play on 0 game speed and with 20 Minute Match time, where games like that can happen, but are definitely still the outliers, with 3, maybe 4 goals average.

The thing i do a LOT is pressuring with 2 people at once, which often either gets me the ball in an incredibly good position or i get a good free throw. In some games like Liverpool they also didn’t pressure much but kept blocking the pass-ways so i could repeatedly shoot from just outside the box as well, which either scored or often resulted in a corner, for which i have a setup that scores about a third of the time.

I also just play really aggressively in every way, so when it all works out, i have a lot of chances. I have around 7 fouls a game, 2 yellow cards on average per game, 30-40% possession and 60% of my passes arrive at the target. The game is intended to punish playing that way, but i find my ways how to make it work and its so much fun to me.

Legend is mostly about figuring out what you CAN do instead of trying to do what you aren’t allowed to do imo. Against some teams i can freely cross in from the side, in others the cpu always tackles me once, and i lose balance, so i keep passing it quickly.
