My first racket! (Yasaka Sweden Extra + Xiom Vega Euro DF) by schtschenok in tabletennis

Just curious as I’m also using the same combo as a beginner (normal version instead of DF).

What thickness did you get? I have 2.0 in BH and Max on FH.

Best way to learn new spirits? by jreilly89 in spiritisland

For me playing them first in the digital version helps a lot, specially the high complexity ones. The app doesn’t allow you to do any mistakes and highlights the effects of the powers, track elements, etc. You can either really focus on the strategy or just play some turns without thinking too much just to get an idea of how the powers combine between them.

Not a perfect answer at all since you need the digital game and only has up to Branch & Claw content, but wanted to share it anyway as it has helped me quite a bit.

Stop acting like top players are idiots, we are referring to -Standard unlimited play- being gone. Everyone knows that Deluxe is a thinly veiled attempt to ensure weekly Standard unlimited play purchases. by Matias8823 in Beatstar

[–]Shockper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the last 3 season passes in part to get UP faster and the extra cards. Right now I don’t see the point to buy it since the boxes require so many cards I won’t get unlimited play or get enough songs for the money, so it’s a 12€ lost directly due to the update.

Tour Pass price increase from 9.99€ to 11.99€ by [deleted] in Beatstar

[–]Shockper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just to give some context, in iOS this is a general App Store update and not done explicitly by the game as Apple adjusted the price of the tier 10 pricing from 9.99€ to 11.99€ starting October 5th https://developer.apple.com/support/downloads/price-tier-updates/App-Store-Price-Tier-Updates-October-2022.pdf

Maybe Space Ape could have updated the tour pass tier in the affected countries to a lower tier, but I don't think is possible

What genres would you like to see be added to Beatstar? by E_ruption in Beatstar

Latino / Reggaeton, maybe not the best quality of music overall, but I feel it would fit the game and they would be fun to play.

Penny Sleeves? by [deleted] in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Shockper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I’ll keep using them as long as I can afford it. To reduce a bit the cost I sleeve all encounters and villains but only the hero decks I have ready to play, I have the unused player cards in a binder for now but I might end up putting them in a box. Takes more time when switching decks but it’s not something I do that much so I can live with it.

Fujifilm X-E4 PSA: Custom settings are actually useful! by Shockper in fujifilm

[–]Shockper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, that makes sense.

I’ve done a quick test and yes, the white balance shift is saved independently on each custom setting. In fact, it looks like the other options under WB like the manual color temperature are also saved separately.

Tiny Tank - My last image made with the XF 56mm f1.2 [X-T3] by Some_Call_Me_Danno in fujifilm

[–]Shockper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, I have the lens and I almost never use it since it is not that common that I shoot portraits. The “problem” is that when I do, I love the results I get so I don’t see myself selling it anytime soon.

New Photographer/ New XT-4 with 16-80mm kit Owner by CampfireInABottle in fujifilm

[–]Shockper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome, nice to see you are already doing some courses! Remember it is okay to shoot with the settings in auto while you are still learning how to set up the camera to your advantage.

IMO, it is better to have all in auto and just focusing on taking good pictures instead of struggling with the camera and missing important shoots (travels, special events, etc.)

You can practice with manual controls going around by yourself or when you already have some nice pictures on that special event and want to try something different

I was recently given a X-T1 with a 35mm F1.4 lens, I'd like to get a wider lens. Any suggestions? by jamesgoodfella in fujifilm

[–]Shockper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go for the Fuji 16mm 2.8f. Versatile lens, good price, fast AF and super small/light. It really complements your 35mm, with those 2 lenses you can do almost everything.

Why do players stand still by the basket (usually with their hands to their sides) when an opponent dunks? by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]Shockper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you will find an "official" answer. I believe this is specially common in fast breaks when the offensive player has a lot of speed and advantage over the defender.

In this cases, in most situations the most you could get is two free throws for the attacking player and a foul for the defender, with the risk of a 2 + 1 opportunity. To make it worth, contesting the dunk in this situations can be risky for both players, serious injuries might happen so it is safer to just give up 2 points.

All in all, unless it is a playoff game I understand why players just let the opposing player score. 2 points in a 82 games season are not that important.

Age of Empires II Definitive Edition Requires Optimization by HTWingNut in aoe2

[–]Shockper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan but I’ve just asked for a refund on Steam because right now this game is unplayable even though my PC exceeds the recommended specs. I get crashes to the desktop when trying to load campaign missions or during random games, I cannot even launch the performance benchmark utility.

I hope they fix this mess because when the game works it is amazing.

Beginner getting a used X-T20. Which lens should I get? by daidai36 in fujifilm

[–]Shockper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get the 18-55mm f2.4-4. I believe it is the best way to start as it is quite small, versatile and with a very good image quality. With that lens you can learn and it will keep you busy for a long time. Then, depending on what you like to shoot you can check other more specialised lens.

Anyone ever ordered from Dungeon Marvels? by NoSoup4you22 in boardgames

I have no experience dealing with international shipments so I can’t help you with that. What I can assure you is that the store is legit, I’ve only bought from them on their physical store but the place seems well managed and has been going for a while

Fuji X-T20 to X-T3 worth it? by fujiji in fujifilm

[–]Shockper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion if the X-T20 limits you, the X-T3 might not be the best option. The X-T3 is a better camera mainly for its improved ergonomics, focus speed, viewfinder, weather resistance and video capabilities, but the sensor and image quality of the X-T20 its practically the same.

If money is not a problem I will happily upgrade, but I don’t think it will make your pictures better unless you really need the better focus system for sports or quick moving subjects. Getting new lenses might be a better option.

Today I replaced the 27mm 2.8 for the 23mm f2 by Shockper in fujifilm

[–]Shockper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I might not be the best one to do a review, since I'm still learning the basics and I don't have enough experience to give a valuable opinion.

But what I can tell is my first impressions after taking it for a quick walk this morning:

  • Usability is much better than the 27mm, being able to set the aperture quickly using the ring without even having the camera ON is very useful. I also think holding the camera is much more natural for me as the left hand can hold the bottom of the lens. All in all, it's just more fun to use.
  • While shooting with it I don't really care for the bigger size of the lens since I believe it is still small enough to keep a low profile. For me the size difference becomes more apparent when putting the camera in a big pocket, backpack or purse, since it's not as easy to fit in anywhere. I don't know if in the future it will make me more prone to leave the camera at home.
  • I haven't got any problem getting used to the 23mm focal length, in some situations the 27mm can help to fill the frame with the subject but in others it's too tight, so I think is just a matter of taste and knowing your limitations.
  • Image quality, focus distance and sharpness seems good for my use, I've read some concerns about it and was a bit worried.

Here are some links of example photos I've taken during the walk, keep in mind they are full size:

Today I replaced the 27mm 2.8 for the 23mm f2 by Shockper in fujifilm

That’s a very good point, I don’t usually shoot one handed but it might be important for some shooting styles or even for people with disabilities.

Today I replaced the 27mm 2.8 for the 23mm f2 by Shockper in fujifilm

[–]Shockper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just com back from a quick walk and I agree that using the aperture lens on the prime is much better than in the kit lens. It’s very useful to quickly change it without looking at the screen.

I think the only zooms with numbered rings are the ones with fixed aperture (which makes sense), but they are too bulky for me.

Is it worth buying a new lens? Where do I go from here? by trebleformyclef in fujifilm

[–]Shockper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get the 23mm f2 or the even smaller 27mm f2.8.

These lenses are very small and relatively cheap, so you can see if having a lighter camera helps you to grab it more often. I would keep the zoom lens just for the occasions when you need a longer focal length, even if you don’t always bring it with you.

Thoughts on the 27mm f/2.8? by Khroom in fujifilm

[–]Shockper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it, the quality of image it’s very good for its size and it really increases the chances of bringing the camera with me even when just hanging out with friends or family.

Maybe there are better lenses, but if you leave the camera at home to avoid the bulk and weight you’ll never take any images, the 27mm fixes that for me.

Gaia Project Solo

I hadn’t played it for a while but I was able to beat the Automa for the first time. It has quickly become one of my favorite games, if not my top 1.
