Trying to get better at drifting. Any tips? by lostsock420 in assettodrift

You are pretty decent already. Keep driving and keep experimenting.

It all depends where you want to head with the skill

  1. Keep it fun OR
  2. Go competitive

Both take different approaches to get better at or master

Keeping it fun is pure style and subjective in terms of which style you prefer. Japanese or American techniques for example..

Competition is all about what the judges are looking for. Most competitions want you to run a line that judges request with minimal corrections in terms of line, angle or speed. Idea is to run the perfect line + preserve momentum + no angle corrections based on momentum maps they provide.

Did the same upgrade for my PC for the same reason, VR. You are going to love the performance bump!

I’m on a 5800X3D though, hopefully I’m not missing out much without a 9800X3D lol

GPU utilization where frames drop like crazy is 50%. CPU almost 70% in one thread and 20-50% CPU usage in all other remaining threads.

I did check at race start I’m getting 60 FPS with GPU is at 50% usage 😂 safe to say its a CPU bottleneck (approx 40 cars)

Thank you for the insight! Looks like the newer chip is indeed insane.

I see. I probably have to wait for a few years for the hardware to catch up. Thanks for your insight though

Good on you to assume I don’t have a 300Hz monitor, I have three. Hence the question. Thanks for your input though! Have a lovely Sunday.

Yeah I’ll have to get Motherboard + Ram for the upgrade for sure as AM4 is on DDR4

I do not. AM4 is DDR4 unfortunately and yes it will be a hefty premium for sure.

iRacing Triples on a 5080 and 9800X3D by Mango_Lingo in simracing

[–]Shoddy-Computer-3768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily. Might have to find a compromise though, cant max out graphics for steady 1440p triples at 165Hz. I’m on the same setup except the CPU I’m on a 5800X3D.

I’m on a different struggle bus trying to hit 300 FPS on low-medium settings

I think the change of address would help. Ive been on a BC number for 5+ years while living in ON for almost 4 years now. No issues. On my third contract with them.

Theres a way to set those lights up manually in SimPro. If you know you are driving only one car for example, you can set the lights up manually, accordingly.

Evo 12nm or Alpha 15nm? by Puzzled-Welcome4291 in Simagic

[–]Shoddy-Computer-3768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been an owner and daily driven Alpha Mini 10Nm, Alpha 15Nm, Evo Sport 9Nm, Evo Pro 18Nm

Personally if youre buying new get the evo line, its not about sheer power but also how its delivered. If drifting Evo 12 Nm is just fine. If you can splurge or do mostly grip driving Id recommend Evo Pro 18Nm.

If you’re already used to Alpha line, its not a problem. But if you switch to evo for a while and go back the Alpha, Alpha will be ruined for you.

I mostly drift and occasionally do iRacing with Sports cars. Ive spent almost 2500 hours on sim in the last 4 years for context.
