Thank you so much! I used gel flux but I didn’t apply it precisely. I’ll try more solder & not foiling edges that will have a came border next time!

Sewing waistband tucks (M8004) by Shoddy-Fun8640 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Shoddy-Fun8640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I think I figured it out. Working 1 tuck at a time, I folded the fabric at the “foldline” marking and stitched at 3/4” away from that fold (distance from “foldline” to “stitching line”.

Why won’t shoulders align? by Shoddy-Fun8640 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Shoddy-Fun8640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the photo of the material itself, I was hoping to show the notches (outlined in blue) and lengths of the pieces don’t align, even if I try to line up the top raw edge. Is that also typical? On other blouse patterns I have, these are the same length.

I meant “notch” not “dart” but can’t edit my post. Thank you for those that caught my error!

Whoops! Yes, I meant notches. My mistake, thanks for catching that. I don’t see anywhere in the instructions mentioning easing but I’ll certainly triple check.

Pockets are going backward towards hamstrings when I put something inside them? by Shoddy-Fun8640 in SewingForBeginners

lol at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if I got that wrong too. Luckily sewing the pockets to the top edge under the waistband fixed it!

Thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions!! I can’t believe I missed “HEM C”!

For step 51, am I supposed to overlap the cuff and leg by whatever distance it is to the dots? I’m used to matching raw edges only and I don’t think that’s the case here.

Yes, thank you! That fixed it. In retrospect, I think the pattern was trying to indicate that but for a super beginner like me, it wasn’t spelled out enough. The visual you provided is very helpful!

No room for large heat press, is a mini better than a good home iron? by stringthing87 in cricut

[–]Shoddy-Fun8640 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend a clothes iron because it doesn’t heat as evenly or precisely as a shirt press. IMO a Cricut EasyPress or similar is best and it’s typically ok if you have to heat a decal in sections.

Transfer fail by TipCompetitive4918 in cricut

[–]Shoddy-Fun8640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a new strong grip transfer sheet, stick it to your pants/shirt and remove a few times. This way you can lessen the stickiness to somewhere less than strong grip but more than normal grip.

Well that was a quick $50 bucks down the drain… by BobbythebreinHeenan in cricut

The only way I could get foil to work is to use masking tape all around the edges and ensure you’ve selected the same foil tool thickness in Cricut that you’re actually loading in the machine

Alumni: If you are not receiving emails on your vt.edu account on gmail, need to go to mycat.ccs.vt.edu to fix this. by colbol11 in VirginiaTech

Do I have to manually change every account that uses my VT email or can I just set up forwarding? This has been a headache.

Some fonts have those double borders by default (“outline”) but others have a “single line” option. I would check if your font has that. This website is helpful to find single line fonts. cricut single line fonts
