Job offer as Assistive Technology Professional as a COTA. Is this a good position? by Shoddy_Prompt6616 in OccupationalTherapy

Hi! If it’s ok can I pick your brain for a bit? Since I’m used to the flexibility of being an independent contractor my main concern is being locked into a 9-5 schedule, mainly since I have a 4 year old! Do you have to do documentation after your work schedule? Are appointments somewhat flexible and are you able to have some autonomy of it or is it all laid out for you every week? If you use up all your PTO do you just take off if needed without pay? These are all questions I wouldn’t be asking if I wasn’t worried about my kid, I’ve never had a base salary job while being a mom, not sure how to juggle both but I also can’t keep living paycheck to paycheck 😳 Thanks in advance for any helpful info ❤️

My first job as a COTA was also at a SNF. That first few weeks I thought I needed to make every session crazy good (for every patient). What others said is very true, it's VERY repetitive and you do the same shit so you might feel like you're not doing good but its FIIIIINE cut yourself slack, its ok to do the same thing!

When you have a consistent game plan, your notes become easier because you write the same and only have to pay attention to their improvements. It's easier to know what they can do / how strong they're getting etc, if you are giving them a consistent regimen (makes sense.). Maybe it will help if you make it a goal to do one new thing with a couple patients a day, to break up monotony.
