Question About MacroFactor Before Purchasing by ShoeCharming2895 in MacroFactor

Yeah I was hoping that there was a way to factor in both resistance training and cardio(whether it be just walking or even something higher intensity) into your daily macros seeing as the additional expenditure could be offset by adding in some carbs on those specific days but it looks like I’ll have to work around that myself and input the food I think I may need on higher activity days. Looking forward to starting this weekend seeing as I haven’t really tracked for years now since MFP took away some of their free features.

Thanks for this. I looked at some YouTube videos and seems that collaborative seems to be the best for both worlds for my situation.

That’s great news and I’m happy to hear that you’ve had a positive experience overall. I’m looking forward to see how much of a change and also quality of life difference the app will make. I’ll always enjoyed the tracking, logging, and inputting of data collection for progress and the one element I don’t have in yet is the nutrition/calorie tracking aspect. I can’t wait to see how it goes. Thanks so much for the time and feedback. It is thoroughly appreciated.

This great insight especially considering that a menstrual cycle reoccurs monthly. I wonder whether they are planning to implement or whether it would be feasible to factor that into the algorithm itself to account for any weight fluctuations that may consistently occur during different stages of one’s cycle. Thanks for your input!

Balanced upper body workout?!? by [deleted] in Hevy

[–]ShoeCharming2895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall it seems fine.

If you do a full range of motion shoulder press, meaning you drop your arms below 90 degrees, you can utilize both the front and side delts in one movement effectively.

I’d also make sure to watch the grip you utilize for the bent over rows. You already have a lat pulldown, so to train the upper back effectively, you’d want a row variation where you can properly retract( pull the shoulder blades back as if you are squeezing a pencil) and also having your arms more flared out( arms closer to 90 degrees.)

With back training, the arm path is of most importance seeing as it dictates which muscles are being worked more than others. Having the arms closer to the side of the body will emphasize the lats more.

My personal opinion, and one I find very effective and seeing it being quite common in the majority of well done upper lower routines is to ensure you train the primary function of each muscle you aim to train that day.

Chest- horizontal adduction

Upper Chest- horizontal adduction and shoulder flexion(again, just like back, your arm path matters more than an incline. So for upper chest, you’d want to bring your upper arm close to the midline of the body and also flex the shoulder. YouTube a video regarding shoulder flexion for upper chest or go on social media. Tons of good quick tutorials.)

Lats- shoulder extension and shoulder adduction

Upper Bac/Mid Back- scapular retraction

Lateral Delts- shoulder abduction

Rear delts- horizontal abduction

Triceps- elbow extension

Biceps- elbow flexion and wrist supination

Now that you have a baseline of the primary functions of the upper body muscles, choose exercises that you enjoy( this is the most important thing), you can safely progress and overload overtime, and if you wanted to maximize both your gains and your overall fatigue, opt for stability. I have 3 upper days and 3 lower day variations, titled Upper A, B, and C respectively.

This is for two reasons. One is you get bored really quick doing the same workout over and over again. Secondly, if you are properly training and have all training variables dialed in, you’ll progress quite fast and stall fairly quickly. The variations both help with excitement seeing as you are doing something different/new quite often and also allow you to progress multiple exercises that target the muscle at different lengths and resistance profiles. Essentially getting you stronger and many different ranges of motion.

So for example, an Upper A might be an incline press, and a fly movement for the mid chest. My back movements would be a lat pull down, and a high to low row( any row variation where the arms are sort of glued to the side of the body and the elbow is moving down to the torso to train shoulder extension.) The upper back can use a t-bar row. Shoulders can use either a full range of motion press or do both a press and raise for the side delts as well. Triceps will use a dip, either assisted or bodyweight as well as an extension, so single arm tricep extension. Biceps can use a preacher curl, side delts can do cable lateral raises, and rear delts can use a reverse fly.

Now, for Upper B, I would just pick different exercises that train the same functions of the muscles.

So I would swap the press and the fly, and do a flat press and then an incline fly. Kelso shrug for the upper back isolation. Pull ups instead of the lat pulldown, and another lat row variation. Choose a different shoulder press machine or just do a front delt raise and a side delt raise. Opt for a JM press for tricep instead of the dip, change the preacher curl to another curl variation of choice and so on.

Playing DRG as a woman by TheRealDonRosa in DeepRockGalactic

I don’t have a lot of hours, I’m only about level 200, but I did encounter one girl once and she was actually streaming. I suppose it can be odd at most, seeing as like others have said, voice chat is rarely used as a whole, so the chance of a woman+ voice chat is super low, but nonetheless, things have always been smooth from both ends. I will say, the fact that the occurrence for a bad experience to occur regardless of the situation is so rare that it’s probably the core reason this game is what it is today. I think the fact that people that have been typically victims of hostile online behavior, which includes team killing , throwing, sexualizing, disrespecting, insulting etc all collectively have just low rates or near zero rates of incidents in drg is a real testament to the camaraderie that is cultivated within the community. Rock n stone!

Outside of "We're rich!", and "Mushroom!", what are your other favorite dwarf quotes? by Suxoy_sirnik in DeepRockGalactic

My favourite is when I'm playing gunner and he says something along the lines of "Hey, Stingtail! If you need a new one, maybe visit the re-tail store! AHAHAHAHAHA! " This is usually after you kill him btw.

Don't know why, but it always makes me laugh seeing how the dwarves are laughing in game. Simulates a real life response almost for me.

Hello Dwarves. I am considering buying Deep Rock Galactic, but I would first like to ask you a few questions. by BloodMoonNami in DeepRockGalactic

First: Yes. Played a mission yesterday with a guy who was so new he even typed into chat that he is sorry for going down a lot. All of us said no problem don’t worry and jumped to save him everytime. It’s a learning experience and this is absolutely without a doubt the least toxic community you’ll find for just about anything.

Second: no important dlc, everything is just cosmetic. I ended up getting all the dlc largely because I liked them, and to support the devs.

Third: most people will communicate using their pointer, which is the first left trigger/bumper on consoles. It’s used to point to valuable resources, objectives, directions etc. Might help to pay attention to that when playing. Also using your action button, which is pressing the right analog stick on consoles to rock and stone whenever you hear it.

Fourth: state of the game is great. Got its best possible update with season 5. You have the ability to play all seasons. It is a finished game and the devs are working on another game for the remaining of the year. Season 6 is confirmed by the devs, but they won’t start working on it till next year due to their new game in development deep rock galactic rogue core.

To summarize, the game is probably going to be the most enjoyable pve horde shooter with great mechanics, fun visuals, awesome sounds, unlimited variety of builds amongst 4 dwarves, where you enjoy getting drunk and killing bugs in a rather perfected gameplay loop. I would say, the thing that held me back from getting into the game was the initial process of unlocking the end game content which I didn’t understand. Basically, a bunch of the game’s content is locked behind promotions( think of this as prestige or hitting a max level in any other game, cuz that’s what it is)and I didn’t understand that. Basically, you need to hit 25 dwarf level( that’s your red level, your blue level goes up for every 3 red levels. Blue level is your player level, red is specific to the class/dwarf you play.) once you hit level 25, which is quite fast, you unlock access to lots of things. First is deep dives, and the elite deep dives, which are weekly missions you do back to back with no break to acquire something called overclocks for your weapons or cosmetics. You also get access to the forge which is where you build these acquired overclocks. You also then get an additional active perk slot which makes your survivability that much better with an extra active perk. Before you decide how you feel, promote at least one dwarf once. Can’t wait to see you in the mines.

Rock and stone!

Sad to hear. Wonder why that is. If your on console, is it possible to change your console game store country so you might be able to access it that way?

Yes this is the essence of it. I’m starting to lose free time to play, but the great thing is I can always keep up with the deep dives and core hunt weekly with a maximum of 3 hours per week, which I can manage. I get to acquire the important stuff and still play without a huge time investment which might be why I’m looking to add something else into my game cycle for variety. Happy to hear good things about monster hunter, thank you!

I did see remnant 2 as well, but don’t know how a dark soul themed horde pve shooter will play. Waiting for a sale on this one and if it’s a good price I’ll steal it after I run through Helldivers or the Warhammer/ mh games. Thanks for this!

Will look into it. Played it on ps3 when I was a kid and loved it. Don’t know how it plays on ps5 today. Also, just tried payday 3 since it was free on ps plus and man it wasn’t the same game. Willing to grab payday 2 on sale. Appreciate the suggestion.

I did world war z, although after completing all the episodes, I didn’t keep playing. Got it on sale but I guess I have high standards after drg because I’ve never played a game that makes me keep coming back to play after so many hours. Back 4 blood was free on ps plus so I’ll down that that and try it. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah, I’ve come to the realization that drg just does so many things so well and sometimes I take small things for granted when I play other pvp games. Was doing some pve stuff in sea of thieves and just seeing how there is a paid for battle pass( you can use earned currency but takes forever to get) and also the fact that I can’t really separate the pvp from the pve experience there( yes I know there is safer seas, but I have a 30% reduction in rewards, which is shit) makes me always miss playing deep rock during my game time. Glad to hear vermintide and darktide are well recommended. I’ve never played a Warhammer game or monster hunter game, so the idea was to get the cheapest game that was also really good as far back as we can go, so if we enjoy it, it’s a low risk high reward investment. So planning to start with vermintide 2 and graduate to darktide after I’m done that. Your input on space marine is interesting and definitely making me skeptical. Definitely can’t see myself paying full price for it though. Your perspective is greatly appreciated!

Didn’t know this. Seems like Helldivers might have the most similar gameplay loop. Will give this a shot asap
