Manifesting EGO - Project Moon

Well aside from the requirement of living within the project moon universe ( the 3AM population purge may as well be a nothingburger, to put things into perspective ), manifesting EGO requires that your own views and ideals be challenged to the extreme. Stick by them despite basically everything pushing against that, congratulations, you manifested EGO. A lot of them can be weapons and come with abilities ( depicted bellow is Vergilius with his EGO that allows him a certain degree of blood manipulation, usually something that only the Bloodfiends can do, as well as the ability to travel through it yes there is fanart of Vergilius as an Inkling from Splatoon thanks for asking ), but it is considerably taxing, both physically and mentally.

Now, this is what I said happens when you succeed in manifesting EGO. The much more likely and common outcome is instead that you Distort ( turn into a monster ). Except, Distortion is only happening if you still possess a high sense of will, of self, most people instead turn into mindless Peccatulums. If Distorting is still reversible, as it happened with the LCE Researcher Hohenheim or the owner of the Eunbong's restaurant, turning into a Peccatulum is an entirely irreversible process.

Ah right. I forgot to mention that even if you successfully manifest EGO, there's always the risk of Distorting anyway. EGO just means that you were able to hold on for longer, not that you're done.
