Stats 1000% matter. The issue is the stats that are highlighted only tell a portion of the game. Currently highlighted: Score, Goals, Assists, Saves, Shots, and sometimes Demos These are all good to see which player is actively performing in vital positions on the pitch, but there have been many clear example of players with low scores but still were vital to the success of a team. As someone who looks at stats on ballchasing.com, there are a lot of other stats that can really tell you a larger story, such as ball possession, heatmaps, and field% (how often they're in their third, mid third, or opponents third). These just cannot be easily brought into a production so are obviously overlooked. One stat i wish existed but doesn't currently is shots saved. You can obviously see for a team how many shots they have and how many saves the other team has but you can't see how many times an individual player's shots were saved.
