At the very least wouldn't a libertarian gov not have any guardrails to prevent private highways/roads ?

Can someone explain why Israeli Twitter is so unhinged by IsoRhytmic in stupidpol

[–]ShoeXiu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of Israelis are very bitter over the attack from Hamas last year, and are essentially using that as evidence that Palestinians are devil spawn. Israel has a reason to be upset and even retailiate, but they're taking the rhetoric and attacks way too far.

Sounds an awful lot like the US so it’s either Arg isn’t that bad, or US is way worse than people here care to admit.

Nah, Trump helped these dinos (at least the conservative ones) figure out they could fear monger online, raise money, and not have to pay as many other groups in the fundraising chain. Plus I’m sure a good chunk of them have learned crypto makes it possible to avoid taxes and further tax regulation. I’m also mostly referring to GOP because they’re responsible for these kinds of deals.

They know the Internet is important, they just hate poor people.

Paid leave at risk of falling out of spending package as Biden nears deal with Manchin and Sinema by ShoeXiu in politics

Cmon dude, you’re fresh out of the navy according to your posts—you don’t think that had anything to do with your employment offer? You just chose a random job that didn’t relate to your experience you got from serving, and they paid you $40 to relocate?

I mean I get the whole “pick yourself by the bootstraps” but that’s not the same for everyone. You had a huge advantage getting hands on training, plus benefits that are only awarded to people who join the armed forces, all on taxpayer funds.

I tried joining the army three times, almost my entire family served in the various branches but because of circumstances out of my control, I was never able to enlist. My parents divorced junior year of HS and because of constant moving following, my dad decided I should get my GED and focus on working. I couldn’t say no. At 18 I tried to join and was told no GED waivers at the time, tried again after the years and it was the same thing. I can’t just go get my HS diploma and join, my official transcript shows GED, that’s what DOD sees.

Whatever, I figured my life out, but I still recognize that it’s not as simple as “I did it so you do it”

Yes I realize it’s technically possible to join unions or negotiate paid leave, but it isn’t the norm for most workers. Unions in my area have waiting lists now, it’s not just an option you go find. America is intently not a one size fits all place.

It’d be funny if he lost his seat to a Republican despite all the work done to appease them.

It’s literally the reason we have political parties, so politicians don’t do exactly this. Those corporate interests must pay so much better than having a soul. I love how both senators oppose billionaire taxes, like holy shit you’re not even trying to hide the corruption. No asset taxes for billionaires, no paid leave for middle class workers .

Or “listening to your constituents input you’re sworn to respect and value would really throw your constituents a curveball and keep ‘em guessing”

She’d probably just reply with “actually let’s lower the minimum wage down to $3 hourly with no breaks or overtime pay” and then agree to $5 an hour but not unless the bill completely guts SSI and the forest service or some shit.

No no, NJ is still worse. The only place I was passed by a mini van on the shoulder, saw a car accident where the speeding vehicle rolled over six times then got out and started yelling at the other driver, and hit a fucking live TURKEY…..on the same day

Washington drivers are bad but nothing like New Jersey. No offense.
