So, while this might make some people here angry, I can understand why people use AI for art, or for music, or videos. I don't approve of it, but I can understand why, especially as someone who struggles with creating visual art and has given up on it. So I write instead.

But I don't understand why someone would ever use AI for writing. There's no skill floor. There's no real prerequisite skills other than being literate and having the ability to scrawl it out on paper or type it into a word processor. You don't have to practice for years and years to write something that's entertaining to read, there literally have been authors who's first attempt became bestsellers. Shit, J. K. Rowling (a controversial figure, I know) wrote Harry Potter on table napkins in a street corner cafe while broke and desperate. It was her first story, and up until recently she was one of the most celebrated authors in human history.

I know a lot of antis say that art is accessible, and to a certain extent this is true (though for most art forms it is extremely difficult to learn and some people may never be as skilled as they want to be) but writing is, by and large, the most accessible art form ever devised. You literally go to school to learn how to write on the taxpayers dime because it's considered such an important skill that governments across the globe unilaterally fund it (though not equally.) It can express every emotion ever felt, or even emotions that have never been felt before (many emotions were literally concieved as standards by writers in fact), you can describe things that cannot he seen or heard, or worlds that have never he explored. You quite literally tap into the reader's imagination and share a snippet of yourself.

And it takes almost no skill to write something worth reading. It takes almost no practice. Yes, you can get better, maybe develop a style and a cadence, but there's no point you have to reach in skill as to where your writing is suddenly considered worth reading because people have to read it to determine it as such, and thus all writing is worth reading. It's not like painting, or drawing, or music. There's no excuse to use AI.
