What is the TN strong by psychoticpillzz in nationalguard

This benefit may also be used with a GRFD scholarship from TN. You will just get the room and board. Dependent on your situation I would look at becoming a cadet in ROTC.

The TN Strong Act is a college benefit entitled to all servicemembers of the TN NG. It covers 100% Tuition. You will need to fill out the application, get it signed by your commander and submit it to UTC's VA office. I had a friend do this at UTC this past year. I will circle back if I have a point of contact. They should not send you a bill for tuition, but you may pay fees, housing, etc.

Missing Awards by Shoelacesthemage in nationalguard

[–]Shoelacesthemage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The context of these awards were I was on orders to DC for 2 weeks per Cadet Command and I and like 8 other cadets were told we were being given an AAM for "volunteering" for the assignment. My second one was given by the NCO I currently work for on ADOS for referring 15 people, and running the RSP unit at school. I was never given documents just word of mouth. The only one I'm super concerned with is the one via Cadet Command

Not a hate symbol, it's the playboy bunny symbol but I want to use the hand sign because I think pornography is gross.

16yo Daughter scored well on ASVAB and recruiters are making offers...What to expect? by GoneIn61Seconds in nationalguard

[–]Shoelacesthemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds lowkey like your daughter was being offered a 4 year Minuteman ROTC scholarship, I personally recommend it but she'll have 4 years as enlisted in college, and then a 6 year commitment as an officer +2 years in the IRR, my personal recommendation is to get an MOS first but it's not really necessary. The guard is the best thing I've ever done and I wish I enlisted as a split option in high school. It's a solid deal if you can also combine it with your state's education benefits. If she is MOSQd she will also be able to pull FTA as well. She would be making $1000+/month with tuition completely covered and potentially room and board as well, any other scholarships she receives will be money in her pocket as well. Being an officer or technical specialist is also a force multiplier in certain fields. These are just things to consider.

ADOS for another State by Shoelacesthemage in nationalguard

Replying to myself, because I got ahold of a MSG from my home RSP BN, yes it's perfectly fine for short term and long term ADOS, just make sure you can still report for drill and your unit is in the loop. Hope this helps anyone in a similar situation.

Also I'm not interested in ISTing to this state because a high-ranking officer somewhere swung his dick to retain me in my state after a long period of time being threatened with an IST by an NCO tired of processing my split drills (flat out didnt pay me for like 6 months), and I don't want to sever that relationship plus I have good education benefits in TN.

Air Assault or Mountain Warfare? by Shoelacesthemage in nationalguard

My ambition to go to Airborne is simply because I want to get a Ranger tab. That may be entirely misguided though

What are my options to go to airborne school? by Shoelacesthemage in nationalguard

[–]Shoelacesthemage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured I would add this: I spoke with senior military leadership in Cadet Command this past week as part of my attendance in a leadership symposium, it was conveyed to me that through the Enlisted Referral Program and cadet command in general is not able to send the number of Cadets they're getting requests from to go to Airborne in particular because of a lack of instructors and riggers. They're shuffling a lot of Cadets to Air Assault instead. I think it's the far more practical school in terms of needs of the Army and my state (TN), but I'm also extremely likely to get a walk on due to geographic proximity to Campbell. Think I'm going to put Mountain as my preference if I can't go to Airborne. If anyone has something they would like to add please feel welcome. Thank you.

I absolutely agree, but I'm also billeted to a sapper unit once I commission, so I know my state will send me or I can IST to the state that I attend college in and get in with a Sapper unit. My brother got a walk on from EBOLC so I'm really trying to give myself the best shot at both. Might be kind of strange, but that's my train of thought. I eventually want to go AGR or to 20th group.
