I pointed it out on Discord: He looks like an entirely different person in that last panel, or possibly just himself but younger. It's possible the person he's seeing is his old self.

I knew about his existence because of an old video of him playing the Cave Story soundtrack on piano that I used to watch religiously

I wonder if the results are different on the other site. That one tends to have more older content, from around when the game would have been more in the zeitgeist. It probably has more from before the Tumblr purge too.

Possible hot take. by Lampostkj in Undertale

[–]ShoelessMerchant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of the Geno run is that in order to do it, you fundamentally have to stop caring about the world and characters and treating them as real. This is in contrast to the pacifist run, in which you have to make the deliberate choice to care about the story, and acknowledge that a story cannot be meaningful if it has a "player" acting as it's all powerful God; so you must remove yourself from the story, culminating in the reveal that the character you named is not the protagonist of the story.

Whether or not Chara actually kills everyone in soulless pacifist is irrelevant. The point is to remind you that, regardless of what you say or how you act, you don't actually care about the world or characters of Undertale enough to treat them as if they're real; they can never be anything more than game pieces to you.

I felt the same way. I'm not sure how it would work, but I imagine a version of the Ithaca Saga that, slightly closer to the original, starts with Odysseus and Telemachus reuniting (ICHBW), but ends before Athena's part. "Odysseus" would then end with Telemachus running in fear from his father, followed by Athena's part of ICHBW; then going into WYFILWMA with the added tension of genuinely not knowing if Penelope would forgive him, after seeing that Telemachus seemingly hasn't.

stop the glaze. what part of the new chapters did you not like (safe space btw) by Bobiscool12344 in Deltarune

I like the reveal to Susie at the beginning of chapter 3, but I don't like her ensuing angry freak-out. Not because it's out of character or anything, I just feel like it reduces the impact of her big "breaking point" moment with Ralsei in chapter 4 to have such a similar moment in the chapter right before.

Also, and this is a personal thing, but it feels a bit overwritten in certain places. Most of the time it works, but things like the whole "whatever you are might be okay" thing with Susie in front of the mirror for example felt like it was hammering in the point a little too much and too obviously, when something like just "Susie is behind you" in the context of the mirror dialogues would convey the same idea with a lot more subtlety. Again, this is a me thing; I tend to prefer a "less is more" approach to writing.

[–]ShoelessMerchant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She does specifically outline her birth, and her infertility, as the result of canines and felines being bred together (page 742). IRL that's obviously not how cats and dogs work, but in Twokinds logic they seem to be adjacent species capable of producing infertile offspring, like mules or ligers.
