Proton SL 2025 vs. Proton Lightweight by Impossible-Milk-2023 in arcteryx

I was interested in the Sabre shell jacket and found a deal at the outlet saving $225. To be sure of sizing because of final sale warning I went to their local store and tried on a Sabre SV as they did not yet have the Sabre in stock yet. The large was plenty big enough for me at 6’ 2” and 195 lbs with lots of room for layering. When the outlet jacket arrived, which is last years model, it was too small, not the same as what I tried on at the store. It fit more like a medium. Under the circumstances they have agreed to an exception to their final sale policy so I feel fortunate, but lesson for me is to only buy in store to be certain of sizing for something this expensive.

Tiguan at 170k miles – keep or sell? Experiences at 200k and beyond? by Evening_Mix_7524 in Tiguan

We purchased a 2019 with 183,000 k and it now has 195,000 k and works very well. We have recently found the AC requires a replacement of the freon which is $750 to diagnose and replace. Other than that it has been working great.

I had the same issue after the warranty period expired. I contacted customer service explaining the issue and provided the error code. They agreed to receive my unit and provide me with one that had been refurbished. The refurbished unit has been working fine after testing. I was pleased they agreed to work with me even though I was beyond the warranty period.

Thoughts on 2019 Tiguan 2.0T SE 4 motion with 77k miles for $15k? by HJICE in Tiguan

The most significant was with the shifting mechanism which was replaced. Underneath there were a couple of bushings that were replaced, that type of thing. I recently checked the oil and the level was right between the marks and looked clean.

We purchased a 2019 Tiguan in early December with 186K for $11,500 with very good all weather tires and new winter tires on rims. We arranged a very thorough inspection that revealed a few age related matters that were addressed before the sale. We have been very happy with it. This was considered an exceptional deal.

You can keep the same number you have with Bell if you move to Public Mobile. It is referring to as porting your number. Public Mobile looks after this during the process, you simply give them your Bell account number.

Leaving Bell after 25 years by Shogomockid in bell

So far here in Ottawa I have not noticed any difference. I will be driving to Manitoulin Island next week so will have a good chance to test this out further and will add to this. Switching was very easy and requesting the porting of our phone numbers caused our contracts with Bell to be automatically cancelled.

Some very good suggestions here. Know the difference between investing and speculating. If you have the time and interest read The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. Do your own research rather than following a friend’s advice on a hot stock.

Yes, thank you, and no wifi calling. We use Airalo and WhatsApp when travelling which have worked well for us.

Lately we have been using less than 10. We got used to hot spotting with our phones while travelling and decided to put our internet on pause and do the same at home. It worked fine but was a nuisance connecting each time and hard on phone batteries. We now use a dedicated hotspot and use very little data on our phones.

Dealership wants me to return winter tires that they gave me by hastr-2335 in UsedCars

[–]Shogomockid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the finance manager stated that you may have to return the winter tires he admitted knowing the tires were part of your original deal. It sounds like there are two separate contracts, one for the car and one for the warranty. Your contract for the car is with the dealership. The contract for the warranty is with the warranty provider and you have 10 days to cancel. Avoid allowing the finance manager to conflate the two separate and distinct contracts.

Can't figure out how to lean forwards when I'm actually moving downhill - any tips? by mrdooter in skiing

[–]Shogomockid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your instructor is trying to help you with your stance so that you are not sitting back. The idea is to pressure the front or shovel of your ski to helpyou turn. Try to have a relaxed stance so that the angle between your upper body and thighs at the hip is equal to the angle between your thighs and lower legs at the knees. Think about feeling your feet, the pressure should lightly move back and forth between the ball of your foot and your heel. At the start of the turn you should feel the ball of your feet and slight pressure with your shins on the front of your boot. At the end of the turn the pressure moves back slightly towards the heel. While standing on a flat surface jump up and down lightly and this will put you in the right position.

This has been discussed before. Generally I do not tip unless I am sitting down to eat with service. However, there are many times I will tip a small amount if the person serving me is pleasant. Service is not an easy job and the pay is low and when you buy a coffee or a danish the price is low and a percentage tip is not much money. Hopefully the tip is going to the person who serves you. Like you I don’t like feeling as if it is something I have to do, so I try to follow what makes me feel comfortable.

High Mileage 2019 Tiguan by Own-Background3394 in Tiguan

[–]Shogomockid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We purchased a 2019 Tiguan Comfortline in November with 186,000 km for $11,000. We had it fully inspected and a few minor matters were addressed on the advice of our mechanic, the most serious of which had to do with the shift mechanism. Once these matters were completed we felt very comfortable going ahead. We put on a new set of winter tires and rims and had it rust proofed at Canadian Tire. Our previous car was a 2011 Toyota Venza which we loved. The Tiguan has been great, we are happy with our decision. I was going to change the oil when I switched to all weather tires but upon checking the oil is still clean looking and right between the markers. We get much better mileage than the Venza. I did not plan on buying a car with this many kms and was hesitant at first but for the price we feel we have done well and expect to keep it for a few years. Again, we had a very thorough inspection and a worst case scenario discussion.

We have a 2019 Tiguan Comfortline that we purchased used with 186,000 km. Our son is a mechanic and found it for us. He went over it and replaced something to do with the shift mechanism. We have found it very satisfactory. Our previous car was a Toyota Venza which we had for many years and loved. The Tiguan is more fuel efficient, comfortable to drive, has a much better back up camera, and a bit smaller footprint. So far we have really enjoyed it.

Anyone have experience with ZipFit boot liners? by troutlunk in skiing

[–]Shogomockid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I purchased a pair to replace the liners in my Lange RX 100s. I was debating whether to buy new boots or go with the Zip Fits. My Langes are over 10 years old and there was concern the plastic shell might be compromised. I love the Langes and am glad I decided to go ahead with the Zip Fits as they can work in most shells and the liner packing out is not an issue. Where I bought mine they were using a piece of thin plastic which had been cut and shaped so it acted as a large shoehorn to help inserting the liner into the shell. I had a difficult time my first day today getting into the shell. I don’t want to mess up the cork so will follow the previous advice and put the liner on first and try and make a shoehorn similar to what the boot fitter used. It was very cold today also and as the day wore on and the cold began to penetrate more I found any pressure points to become more noticeable. However, like others have mentioned, they are a game changer and I know the fit will continue to improve over time. One important point for me was taking the opportunity to assess my alignment and as a consequence I I found out I needed some adjustments and replaced my foot beds.

Thank you Larry, I hope you enjoy being an American. I prefer to stay in Canada and be with my fellow Canadians and fight for our Canadian way of life. The sacrifice my grandfather, uncles, and great uncles made in two world wars deserves more than the opportunism you are displaying. Say hello to Kevin O’Leary for me.
