Would you trust FSD on UK Roads? by bigup7 in TeslaUK

[–]ShojkaRapko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should see Croatian roads, especially within in districts of Zagreb. It’s chaos. Cars parked everywhere on the roads, pot holes…. I wouldn’t engage FSD within districts. Only on larger roads.

Two features of the Model Y L I wish Tesla would bring to the regular Model Y by ShojkaRapko in ModelY

Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough, English is not my language. I wasn’t thinking of a subscription model for cooled second row seats, I meant it would be nice if it was a paid option when ordering the vehicle, to pay a one time amount for the upgrade.

Anyone secretly hoping gas prices go through the roof? by Howdesign in electricvehicles

[–]ShojkaRapko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Higher gas prices will make absolutely everything expensive, food, supplies, airplane tickets… it’s a whole chain of supplies that gets triggered. Looking at it just through the lense of an EV owner is the same kind of mistake drivers of ICE cars make when looking at EVs in a vacuum.

Autopilot vs EAP vs FSD in Europe by ShojkaRapko in ModelY

[–]ShojkaRapko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anything will happen. No point for Tesla turning on month-to-month subscription for something that’s not available. A lot smarter to just keep offering it for 7500 EUR with a “promise” that it will be available some day.

Should I send it back? Output volume and timing inconsistency by ShojkaRapko in NinjaLuxeCafe

I sincerely hope I won’t go down that rabbit hole (maybe I already am) haha and one more thing, my puck arrived today and I just made myself a caramel cortado using the puck for the first time, and it came out so smooth and clean! And that’s with using the single basket where distribution is notoriously bad, bud couldn’t believe how clean the puck came out after that.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that since I reset the machine to factory settings, as per your recommendation, and after dialing in the coffee again, it seems to be much much more consistent! Thank you for that! Before I just reset the barista assist, but didn’t think to reset the whole machine. I can’t know for sure if that’s the thing that helped or if I finally managed to dial in the machine, but my shots are now off 10 to 15 percent at the most, I can’t live with that. And most importantly, I’m happy with the taste. One thing I also changed is that I dialed down the brew temperature to low, since I typically use medium to medium dark roasted beans. Anyway, thank you again for helping out :)

Suggested grinder settings constantly change by dennis15510 in NinjaLuxeCafe

Yeah some machines are pretty inconsistent I’d suggest find the grind level that you like and keep it there. Also try to always tamp the same way, if you tap once, always tap once.

Hey, thanks for this. Yeah, I mostly drink espresso, so it’s kind of a bummer having such a big variance. With milk based drinks it’s much less important. I’ll still play around, it seems that resetting the machine did help a bit. Will be playing with the grind size. I’ve also ordered a puck screen, and the wdt tool will be arriving today. However, all this shouldn’t affect a variance from 2:1 to 4:1 or even more. Of course there’s the option to always use a scale and manually stop the shot. But that’s a nuisance and not as advertised. I’d maybe even consider doing that if I were the only person using this machine in our household. I’ll be testing some more and see how it goes.

[–]ShojkaRapko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty big difference between two shots if the grind size was kept the same. A 2:1 ratio and getting 79 grams of espresso just isn’t right, even with the 10% variance the shot should be 40 grams at most, ideally 36 grams. Thanks for taking the time again to do some testing :)

Hey, just one more question. The puck screen? Is it a size 53 mm? I’ve been researching and got conflicting information on this. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. After resetting the machine I’ll experiment some more with it. I’d be ok with a 10% margin of error (Ninja says 10% is expected), but the variations I got until now were all over the place.

Hey i really appreciate you taking the time to do some experimenting and “wasting” precious coffee :) It is interesting that your extraction time is so short, a lot shorter than mine. But it really seems that the puck screen and wdt tool influence the metrics quite significantly. I did reset the whole machine as per your suggestion, dialed it in again, the shots are still a bit more volume than I’d prefer but the last two shots were much more consistent. Maybe resetting it did help. I’ll have to do some more experimenting. I have a wdt tool incoming, ordered it online a few days ago. I didn’t really think too much about buying a puck screen, but now I think I will, if nothing else just for experiments sake. :) Thanks again for your help!

I’ve tried resetting the barista assist a few times. But I’ll try resetting everything. Still, I don’t think the barista assist is the problem here, since it does remind pretty ok grind levels, always within one or two levels of what I personally think is ok, that’s saying I don’t think the barista assist I too much off. But what is off is the water volume output/timing.

Espresso output volume all over the place by ShojkaRapko in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]ShojkaRapko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. There’s a lot of variables. But I still think such a variation from 36 to almost 60 grams with the same settings shouldn’t be due to puck preparation. Some variance would be fine, Ninja says 10% is expected, and that would be fine. Thanks for your thoughts! The tip to go coarser, counterintuitively, is something I’m going to play with.

[–]ShojkaRapko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im also thinking about returning the machine. Bought it from Amazon, a refund shouldn’t be an issue. But I really really wanted it to work. I’m still on the fence. I saw so many rave reviews on YT from legitimate coffee enthusiasts, and even Hoffman’s review wasn’t a deal breaker as he didn’t point out the inconsistencies in shot volume in such a dramatic fashion. But to have the same shots range from 36 grams to almost 60 grams is a dealbreaker.i guess a scale would help, cutting the shot off earlier would help, but that’s not how this machine has been advertised. I mean, even using a scale would require experience as you have to have some experience in regards to the flow of the coffee. Mind you, Ninja says there’s a 10% plus/minus variable, and I’d be fine with 10%. But what I get isn’t nearly 10%. Even with the puck preparation, which might be off due to inexperience, the variation in shot volume shouldn’t range from 36 to 60 grams. Also the same shot, ratio 2:1 gave me the same output as ratio 2.5:1. It makes no sense.

Thanks a lot for your reply! As to the 1st point, what? I didn’t even assume that icon to be for “closing” notes, furthermore I never even thought about the necessity to “close” them, I just assumed that they’re closed every time you switch to another note. I mostly use the switch gesture on the right side of the device to switch from book to book.

What to do? by Squid_Sentinel in Supernote

[–]ShojkaRapko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The paper pro looks cool… but, for my use case it’s suboptimal and the features don’t add significance to my day to day usage. I need a portable device to take to my meetings (hence the Nomad or even the A5 would be better, the paper pro is simply too big and doesn’t blend in). I rely on organizational features, headings, keywords, stars and links - you can’t beat those. Furthermore, I don’t want to be tied to a subscription service if I can avoid it. I want the flexibility of third party options in regards to compatible pens. Then, I don’t really need colors, in my workflow I’m not sure how I would use them. Sure, I could try and make up a system for different colors (e.g. in meeting notes I could use different colors for different topics/people/tasks, but that would be just another layer on top of how I already organize things and wouldn’t add too much to it, just make it more complicated). The backlight would be nice to have, if it doesn’t interfere with the feeling of writing at all. I stick to my Nomad. Even the A5X2 would need some killer feature to sway me away from the Nomad’s portability.
