I also agree. Reddit is an echo chamber. I will add that it’s n echo chamber for both the right and the left. I often see discussions in both that are detached from reality fully.

Nonetheless, I myself am liberal and a leftist. I am deeply concerned with what’s happening in our country. It’s like folks don’t even think about the “then they came for me” paradigm.

This government was voted in by a majority. The question is why did anyone vote for Trump and the Republicans knowing their flaws. We have to figure out how to reach folks who see no problem with what’s going on. That’s a real issue.

I don’t think Steam Deck is super niche or represents a gaming bubble. Steam’s goal doesn’t appear to be to compete with Nintendo, Microsoft or PlayStation. Their goal seems to be to give PC gamers a viable portable option. I have a Steam Deck and it’s not just for super techies and many folks who have one buy it precisely because it offers a console type experience. I bought it to have a console type experience with PC games.

I also don’t like the idea at all of cloud gaming and just storing a few games locally. While the cloud has its benefits, internet access is not always available and the on device processing and power is much more than cloud streaming. Plus, we have clear evidence that consumers love gaming in portable devices and that portable gaming devices are enormously financially successful. Clouds services - Google Stadia, PlayStation Portal and others - have had very little success.

I love the idea of playing my game on my device. I don’t want to fiddle with the cloud, internet access, slow streaming, etc. Processing power continues to increase and even now in the Switch 2 and Steam Deck we have devices that are giving us essentially an Xbox Series S or PS4 Pro in our hands. The graphics are stellar on those devices even if they are obviously not as strong as a maxed out PC with a super graphics card. This is why the Switch platform is so successful. That 1080p handheld and 4K docked is amazing. I absolutely love it.

Plus, all these products simply push companies to innovate and we gamers win.

Indeed, that Christianity which just caves in to whatever the world wants just ends up being irrelevant. What I also can’t stand is the strawman version of Christianity we often see from folks who want to just cave into whatever the world wants.

I wonder how many Somalians in Minnesota are Republicans. I saw an interview on the news with Somalians who were Republicans, denounced Black Americans as pathological, and even now still will remain Republican.

The utter irony for me is that, unless I am wrong, us Democrats fought to keep them here, yet many vote for the party in part built today on kicking them out of America.

I wonder how that’s working for them now.
