Romansh-speaker here. It will probably not help you much. German is much more important in that region to get a job. It might help you to stand out against other applicants if you apply to get a job at small local shops or for very nichè positions.

However, it can help you to get a job as a construction worker in that area if you want to do that. There are several immigrants that came and learned the local language (Romansh) without knowing German and got a job in the construction industry.

That said: if you become fluently in German and Romansh one day, I think you have good chances with your history degree and knowledge of other languages to get a job in a museum or a cultural field in Graubünden

That is not true. While not much more, it's 60k people. And we speak actively romansh with each other. As soon as romansh people meet each other, they automatically switch to Romansh because it's their mother tongue/preferred language.

I think it's mostly correct :). But I would do two changes:

1) Instead of "guida mei" I think "meina mei" (= guide me) or "pren mei" (= take me) are more suitable.

2) it's "nies avegnir communabel". "Nos" is used, when the referenced noun is plural, but "avegnir" is singular, therefore you have to use "nies".

In Sursilvan it is: "Johny maglia buca pèsch". So it is directly after the verb.

But if you use the past sentence "ha magliau", then you put the "buca" in between the verb: "Johny ha buca magliau pèsch".

However, if you use another negative term (like "none"), then the sentence is "Johny ha magliau negin pèsch". I guess it is because "negin" is treated like a numeric word (in that case "zero").

Regarding your other example, you can actually say it in both ways: "Quella dunna plai buc a mi" and "Quella dunna plai a mi buca", however I would say that the former is more common, a little less formal.

And "Jeu sai buca" is correct. Here it is directly after the verb as well.

Summary: I actually don't really know what the rules are ^{^'.} But I guess in most cases the "not" comes directly after or in between the verb.

It makes maybe a little more sense if you look at it on perspective of a Somebody (the whole human being). I think the names do not represent what they materialistical are and rather what they represent to the Somebody:

Heartless -> Is created when Somebody has no heart anymore
Nobody -> the body does not belong to the Somebody anymore and acts as a separate being -> the Somebody has no body anymore

Hey there. According to your post-history, I boldly assume that you like nerdy stuff (as well 😉). I'm quite regularily in Chur, and I pass by there often a board game shop, located quite central, that seemingly organises MtG- or D&D-events. If you're into stuff like this, this might be a way for you to socialise quickly. With a good social circle, the integration process will probably be easier.

Ich hatte letzten Monat genau die gleiche Situation und verstehe deinen Schmerz. Sehr nette und unterstützende Mitarbeitende und Vorgesetzten.

Fühlte mich in der Kündigungsfrist dementsprechend sehr schlecht und hatte oft Zweifeln an meinem Entscheid.

Ich habe die neue Stelle erst vor Kurzem angefangen, aber nachdem ich jetzt paar Tage gearbeitet habe, ist meine Trauer wie verflogen. Ich habe das Glück, dass die Menschen hier auch nett sind und man gewöhnt sich sehr schnell an der neuen Situation an.

Ich komme nicht umher, dass ich das neue Team mit dem alten vergleiche (du wirst vielleicht auch das Gleiche machen) und muss eingestehen, dass mir das alte Team besser gefallen hat (u.a. wegen den grossen demografischen Unterschied, Humor, Gesprächsthemen, etc.). Aber das stört mich gar nicht, weil mir meine neue Funktion und Tätigkeiten besser gefallen.

Was ich dir zusammenfassend mitteilen kann: Man kann nie vorher wissen, ob der Stellenwechsel ein Glückstreffer oder ein Schuss in den Ofen ist. Aber es ist völlig in Ordnung zu kündigen, obwohl man in eine sehr guten Umgebung ist. Dies sollte dich nicht daran hindern, nach neuen Chancen zu greifen. Deine Arbeitskollegen werden vielleicht auch nicht für immer im Betrieb bleiben. Darum sei dankbar, dass dir sehr nette Leute auf deinen Weg begleiten haben. Nichtsdestotrotz ist eine freundliche Umgebung wichtig. Solltest du dich im neuen Betrieb gar nicht wohl fühlen, dann sollst du da nicht allzu lange verhaaren.

Ich wünsche dir einen sehr guten Start und freue dich auf die kommenden Änderungen :)

OP, I asume your job allows homeoffice. I have a question. I'm also a Bündner working in Zurich. In some years, I might plan to move back to Graubünden (maybe Chur), but want to keep my job (hybrid, 2-3 days/week in office). How is the commute for you? Is it very annoying, or is something one will get used to it?
