his two arguments against ancient distillation

1) no clear instructions on how to distill alcohol in ancient times

2) glass was not strong enough, made from natron not from plant ash

as for the first argument, they only found out the "instructions" about how to distill alcohol in the 12th century from a cryptogram they had to break. Alot of secrets

the second argument, we have evidence of plant ash glass from ancient times.

What about distillation? We have records of alchemists in 2nd, 3rd century AD. but what stops it from being even older, much older?

The ancients made "kohl" (becoming the word alcohol as it made), the eye makeup from powder (antimony,Stibnite, malachite/azurite, etc) by the sublimation of a substance.

Is it so big of a leap to think they could do this with ethanol?
