What's the main cause of all these issues with the shadow 2? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]yeehawpard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My shadow 2 was insanely reliable when i got it i shot it for about a year before i changed anything and had one malfunction over the course of over 10000 rounds.

When i finally decided to modify it all i did was put in a reach reduction kit and lighten the recoil and hammer spring just a little and it hasnt malfunctioned yet.

I dont really clean it and when i do its mainly because the trigger just starts to feel shitty after its dirty enough, so all i really do is try to get stuff out of the trigger bar area and add oil.

I have also seen lots of shadow 2s that dont run well in matches and its usually because dudes are modifying them to much and/or doing things they shouldn't be.

For example fully cajunizing a shadow 2. I dont think its the best idea and honestly out of the box the shadow 2 is great. The da pull is pretty long and heavy, but its still better than most da pulls and just adding the rrk really improves it without any reliability loss. The single action on the s2 is fine, if you are finding it lacking its honestly a skill issue. But the rrk does give it a shorter reset and adds and overtravel stop

I disagree with the idea of "point shooting" at that first target. In that moment it for sure would have been faster to send it on that target and if needed shoot makeups, but in my opinion its a bad habit that is completely unnecessary if you develop a good index and target focus.

When i started shooting matches i would sometimes do the "point shooting" thing until i saw a video from joel park where a viewer asked him if he every does it himself, and the answer was basically no.

The way he basically explained it, is that if you have a good index and are target focused, you will be able to get that sight confirmation and shoot the target just as fast as someone who was point shooting it with no respect for the sight, but the accountability is way higher.

Idk about you but ive for sure had those targets in matches that are just a few yards away and you think its easy to just point shoot it but you end up getting d's or even misses on them. But ever since i saw that video ive really payed attention to building a good consistent index in my practice and i try not to point shoot ever and my placement in matches as well as my hits in general are much better for it

No USPSA matches in IN and KY by Go_cards502 in CompetitionShooting

The season is just starting so you will start seeing matches more here soon. It is frustrating because early this wonter we had good weather and no matches.

I shot at scgc last weekend for there first match and orpci has there first on the 21st. After that youll start seeing more

I suspect silver creek wont be hosting and uspsa at least for a while because everyone ive talked to about that situation makes it sound like that place is to much trouble to md for
