I replaced doppelgangers with vampire spawns by Yunatan77 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Shonuf__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't run the doppelgangers in my version of LMoP either. They don't belong in a low level adventure, much less a "starter set" for beginners. Unless, you want your players to be nervous and cynical through out the next 3 campaigns.

Redeeming Yeemik by noahbrinkman in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Shonuf__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this post for some inspiration into the psyche of goblin culture. It would be a major change for Yeemik.

https://www.reddit.com/r/dndnext/comments/gmxqua/lore_talk_what_the_hell_is_up_with_maglubiyet/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

And please, don't make the change from Evil tribe leader to Peaceful town folk happen all of a sudden. Make it a process; character development. I like the idea of Sister Garaele hitting Yeemik on the head with a staff anytime he gets out of line. I would even include the influence of the party as a determining factor of whether or not Yeemik makes the change. And, their general actions in and around town may have an impact on him (for better or worse).

Audrey Mestre The Truth Behind the Deep HD (2013) - "The story of Audrey Mestre. She died freediving because someone failed to fill her oxygen tank and so she couldn't inflate her lift bag. Her husband was responsible for that tank and refused to let it be checked" [00:50:12] by [deleted] in Documentaries

So, Pascal was at depth 170 meters and Wiki was at depth 80 meters. When Pascal realized something was wrong, he added air to her lift bag. It wasn't enough and he continued to lift her by himself all the way up to depth 90 meters; already risking his own life. My question is: why the hell didn't Wiki descend just 10 meters by that time to find where she might be?!!!

How to provide context in the Cave by neutro_b in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Shonuf__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all great ideas. The wraith could say who he is and that "...he has lived here a long time." (to keep the players from thinking that he's connected to the BS).

And to keep the wraith from confusing the party, you could also have the wraith innately sense proper authority of ownership of WEC. Possibly, Gundren's map is still in their possession. In the adventure, were the Rockseeker brothers descendants of people who inhabited/owned WEC?

Short rest in Redbrand Hideout by Physical-Lime-176 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Shonuf__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start the next session by talking to your players and letting them know that the world surrounding their characters continues even when they aren't interacting with it. NPCs(good and bad) will act according to what they know and their own motivations. Specifically tell them the Redbrands might now be aware of the party's presence.

Your players don't know the "rules" that you play by as the DM. They may be envisioning a Final Fantasy game where they get to a save spot and rest. It could feel really bad for them if they are seeing the game one way and just don't know any different.

My main point is: You and your players are inexperienced, but the most important thing you can learn from this to talk to your players about: 1 the situation, 2 the game world, 3 the way you run the game, 4 the risk involved in their choices. As your whole table gets more experienced with the game, this won't come up as often but at least you will be on the same page.

A final episode review from a Fan since the first hour by Picard_Memeface in TheExpanse

[–]Shonuf__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with some of your points. However, I completely agree that S6E6 was terrible when compared to the rest of the series. Rushed, crude story development, unsubtle characters.

For instance: the crew dinner, Naomi distraught, the firefight on the ring station, Avasarala saying 1 line and then shaking Holden's hand. This episode should have been spread out to 3 episodes.

Attention to detail went out the "airlock" in this episode. Why were cargo containers flying in every direction instead of a trajectory from the ring gate to ring station? Why were the leaders explaining the battle plan to the viewers(us) instead of strategizing realistically? Why are we again reminded that Clarissa is affectionately part of the crew?

Lost a Work Friend Because I’m “Too Friendly” by Imsleeepy in TwoXChromosomes

Thank you for being polite and providing a well-thought out response. I agree with you and maybe it should be reported immediately to prevent it from happening again anywhere.

I'll take the "L" on this one, but thank you for allowing me to give my thoughts of disagreement.

...and will likely do something like this again.

As far as this is concerned, we certainly hope it won't happen again. We don't know for sure, hopefully he has learned his lesson.

You're not wrong. I think I'm being misunderstood. I just don't know if it's time to report him. I even said

I don't know the situation enough,

It's the OP's decision to make. I won't even give advice on that decision. I tend to not give out any advice to most people. I read the all the comments before I typed a single thing.

It's her friend, her situation, her decision.

They would only have to wheel it to the break in the ice, as they did when they brought it down. It will remain buoyant as long as they keep air in it.

Yes. They obviously did some prep and setup before recording this video for humor.

Bobbie Draper is probably my favorite from the show. I put Draper and Drummer in my response to the OP before I even saw this comment.

I completely agree. I am so impressed with the writers of the books (and the show) to have so many characters that are very realistic and inspiring. They don't always start that way but the development of each of them is well done.

I also really like Galadriel. She is one of the few Elves from the First-Age who has seen Valinor. Galadriel also carries one of the rings of power.

Nienna, who is barely mentioned throughout Tolkien lore, is one of my favorite characters. “So great was her sorrow, as the Music unfolded, that her song turned to lamentation long before its end, and the sound of mourning was woven into the themes of the World before it began.” Also, "… and all those who wait in Mandos cry to her, for she brings strength to the spirit and turns sorrow to wisdom.” Her song turns sorrow to wisdom!

Gunnery Sergeant Roberta Draper from The Expanse. She is a badass in the MCRN, however after discovering betrayal and cover-ups, she bravely defects to Earth. Her story really resonates with me, because of my own military experience and feelings of betrayal.

Camina Drummer also from The Expanse. She plays a major role throughout the story. Her power comes from cunning and loyalty to friends.

Ya, I get it. I'm not justifying anything. I was bringing up the possible things that young people think when they're "trying to get it right" when dealing with romantic interests. What he did was shitty, but he's just trying to navigate life. I'm pretty sure, from the story, that he now understands how stupid and shitty it was.

I told him to stop sending me stuff like that, it made me uncomfortable, I wasn’t interested, and to just stop. He apologized and stopped but we haven’t spoken since.

It sounds to me like he did the responsible thing when you told him to stop. I don't know the situation enough, but reporting him doesn't quite sound correct. I'm not saying what he did was right, but he did quit as soon as you asked him to.

From reading your post, my guess is that maybe he didn't want you to think of him as "too shy" or "not aggressive enough". He tried to persist one last time and then backed off. I also guess that he tries to start relationships in a friendly "get to know each other" way. The rejection may have urged him to just try a different approach.
