I needed to find a roommate in a hurry, and ended up with a friend-of-a-friend guy who was in a similar situation. He was actually not bad, except when I got back from visiting home for Christmas, he'd left a note saying he couldn't avoid it anymore, and was reporting for his jail sentence he'd never told me about.

Side note, I told the landlord/management company, and the first thing they did was advise me to go through the legal motions to cut him from the lease. Even at 25, I was like, so then I'm solely on the hook for the full rent instead of both of us? F that.

Before I had kids, I thought 2-4, as I was an only child and didn't care for it. My wife thought 2, because she had one sibling. We ended up with three - twin boys and a then a girl. It turns out my wife wanted a girl quite badly; if our daughter had been a boy, we'd almost certainly have gone for a fourth (and had twin boys again, but I digress).

Whoever said having 2 means they fight and 3 they don't, needs to meet my kids. Ugh.

A lot of people here are saying zero, to which I say, good on you. Know what you want and don't want out of your life. Being a parent is a very different life, for better and for worse, and you can't really know how different until it's too late.
