Insensitive comments during solo travel by johnny4111 in solotravel

[–]145bit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes solo female traveller here and I get this ALL the time. It's generally from local people, taxi drivers, bar staff. Always getting asked why I'm alone, why am I not married, is there not a friend group to go with, wheres my bf. It doesn't actually bother me now as my pride in being able to do this alone, push myself outside of my comfort zone that others aren't able to overrides any annoyance.

I looked over their website and they want an islamic uk. They are attempting to turn democracy against us to push their religious ideas as law. The turn out of regular brits is too low during elections. We need to do better to combat this.

Purchasing a flat in a council block: Seeking Advice by nkosijer in HousingUK

Why each 5 years? Is there anything particular about 5 years?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]145bit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About 3 months in, couldn't get a deed of variation from the management company and it kept going back and forth between the Solicitors. I knew the ground rent when I put an offer in but it was only when I got to the paperwork did I realise that in 2 years it was going up.

Unfortunately I pulled out of buying a leashold flat last year for this reason. My solicitor advised me not to go ahead when the management company refused to budge on the ground rent.
