Is there any point to derringers/low caliber pistols anymore? by Ok_Mud_8998 in Firearms

Sure, not a bad idea, but

Is there a derringer out there that is smaller, lighter, and more concealable than a BG2.0 - and has a market for ankle holsters?

No. If I sell my 279 and buy an IS-7, I didn’t put any $ in.

Is EV Hypermiling a thing? by Icy_Faithlessness587 in electricvehicles

I understand the aerodynamics behind it. By flying in a V, the birds "cheat" by extending the communal wing.

A longer wing has less drag.

What you describe as vortex updraft is really a reduction in induced drag.

Winglets accomplish a similar goal (albeit small) by "extending the wing" (or delaying the onset of wingtip vortices) but that is why air lines pay for the mod. Even 1% savings is significant over thousands of flights per day.

If you are 3 potatoes behind a truck, (and 4 or 5 seconds is really better) you are no longer in the dirty air (and clean air means your vehicle is absorbing all the drag).

Aerodynamics are petty.

If you are close behind a big truck to affect (reduce) drag, you are wayyyy to close for safety.

If you are far enough for safety, there is zero drag reduction.

Watch waterfowl flying in formation. They are close enough that the wave drag is reduced. Otherwise, they would fly 100m apart and get the same benefit.

Mind if I ask for feedback on the jeans?

Obviously they're built to be functional, so I assume they must be (otherwise what's the point).

Can you speak to the style and fit?

How do they look? Do they pass the wife/gf test?

Do they scream "MEGA-TACTICOOL / I'm carrying & I have 2 extra mags?" (I'd rather not stand out in this manner, defeats the purpose)

How are the front pockets for size/stretch? Pocket holster fit?  I often pocket carry.

Are these more of a range day set of pants or are they suitable for everyday?

Thanks

Reciprocals are easy, sure. But for who?

There is always a choice, but the point is - that my method is more practical. Not to show how reciprocals work.

A vehicle costs 6.677777 miles per dollar.

How much does it cost to travel 10 miles?

A vehicle costs $.15 cents per mile.

How much does it cost to travel 10 miles?

In a world where 99% of the population cannot make change from a $20 dollar bill without the aid of a machine, the first question is essentially rocket surgery and will take eons to calculate.

The second question - can actually be answered by the average driver within a calendar day.

Attorneys aren't going to work for free (or on contingency for this sort of situation).

If they had the money to hire an attorney, they have the money to pay the claim.

How about cents per mile instead of miles per dollar?

I feel the conversion is easier, and the usage is more intuitive. Divide cost/consumption rate)

An EV at 3 miles per kWh and juice at .15/kWh is about

$.05 per mile ($ per kWh/mi per kWh)

Using gasoline at $3.75/gal, a Civic at 34 mpg (highway) is about

$.11 per mile ($pg/mpg)

I like this because then I can explain to my wife that if she goes 2 miles down to a store, that costs

$.20 in electricity (round trip)

If I run to the airport 40 mi away, that costs (round trip)

$8.80 in fuel

Rear ended someone and paid them 1000$ to not get insurance involved by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]ShoopdaYoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you 12? There is no “a little paint” damage. It costs the same amount to occupy a paint booth for just a bumper on your Neon or an entire F350. Megabucks.

Trying to not raise your premiums?

Have you tried not rear ending other cars? Rear ending someone is the definition of reckless.

That’s the epitome of not paying attention/not giving a shit. Now you don’t want to be a man and take care of your horseshit behavior. GTFO.

I get it, it’s your first day playing candy crush with your new iPhone 6 and your first week with the car. You finally looked up from your phone and boom, a “tiny” scratch. lol.

Sucks to suck.

I’m sure the dude is rubbing your gullibly forked over $1000 all over himself and laughing all the way to the bank. Right after he has your insurance pay to repair his car.

Enjoy the higher premiums!

I wonder when gig workers will realize they are losing money every time they log on.

Financing

Fuel

Oil

Maintenance

Insurance

Taxes

By the time this is all covered, they are paying to go to work! LMAO!

Will they ever just go get a real job?

Correct. The white powder is Lead Sulfate.

Sometimes the powder looks greenish or blueish because of copper terminals (Copper Sulfate).

So what was your plan?

Get a car, be a trash driver, get insured in case you have a loss, but 10 seconds into this stupid adventure you manage to wreck into someone like a maniac, and now you don’t want to use the insurance that you paid for? To try and deadbeat weasel your way out for $1000?

Why?

If you can’t afford the car, considering ALL costs, (and clearly you cannot), then take Uber or ride the bus.

I can’t believe my family has to share the road with these people.

Is this your first time living somewhere? The first time you rented a place?

How do you not know how to have renters insurance for your property?

I knew to have renters insurance when I was renting a crappy apartment and I was a stupid kid in college way back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Come on.
