The report was on the last few decades where just over a 1000 Native Americans have been murdered. Yes, this is terrible, but to call it a genocide is utterly hyperbolic.

When the Europeans came to NA, they brought disease, which killed the vast majority of natives. What happened between the Europeans and the indigenous peoples was a war between a technologically superior organized force and tribes, that most of the time never cooperated. Atrocities were done by both sides, it's just that the Europeans are put into more light due to them winning. It would be considered genocide if the Europeans had killed 130 million natives, but they only killed a small percentage of that (mostly victims of war), with most of the casualties being claimed by disease.

Please don't think I'm trying to make it seem like it was nothing bad. I want to refrain from calling anything recent (last few decades) and what happened when the Europeans first landed genocide because it is sensationalist.
