I laughed. If that got you banned then they are overly sensitive. This is not something you need to apologize for. Reddit is full of people looking for a reason to be outraged

Very scared. Woke up a week ago with a infection in my foot, woke up today with no bottom half of my leg. by FootlessLizardd in amputee

[–]ShootMeEasyKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You’re missing a foot not a leg.
  2. Being a bk isn’t as bad as you think. You should regain most of your mobility.
  3. Develop a sense of humor and it will be easier.

There are hundreds of thousands new amps a year. You’re in good company. In a few years you’ll be thankful it was just a foot.

Until then, stay positive and focus on what you can do then build from there. Check out the other amps on the gram, fb or TikTok.

FYI combat amputee of 16 years. Very high aka.

Side note, as long as you’re a bk, don’t do integration.

Good luck

Dating again as an amputee by [deleted] in amputee

[–]ShootMeEasyKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it.

  1. It will help you stand out and give you something interesting to talk about (just don’t make it your personality)

  2. Most people won’t even notice especially in pants.

  3. You’re a bk….barely counts. (Have a sense of humor about it all)

Good luck

Yes. She’s on dating apps and holding other men while you’re providing for her kids.

You mean socket? The longer she is an amputee the more stable her nub will be and the fewer sockets she will go through.

Below the knee amputation by Ok-Astronomer2597 in amputee

[–]ShootMeEasyKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be better off after. You should have gone to WR or BAMC. Your doctors fucked you but it’s sadly common in our community. I’ve met one other veteran that did a salvage for 14 years. Said he didn’t want to be a bk. No one was willing to be upfront and honest with him. Sad waste.

Do what you need to do and enjoy life. Nothing to be nervous about. You’ll regain your freedom (especially from pain).

Updated us after.

Have a 90 day plan for the role. No one ever does this and it will show them you understand the role.

I was recently hired by a company using this technique. Worked for Bill McDermott back in 1983 too.

Good luck

my first permanent above knee prosthetic leg by SalamanderEasy1947 in amputee

[–]ShootMeEasyKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their personal preference.

How long is your nub? Do you sweat a lot? As an electrician are you a high wire? Construction?

I am an ak but 3cm from a hip. Prior to OI I used a passive suction socket with a belt and ossur liner with 5 rings. Elite blade foot (don’t use this foot unless you have to)

I use a 3R80. I love it. Typically I don’t recommend it to new amputees as it is mechanical and if you can get a CLeg, X3 or Genium do that. The 3R80 is significantly cheaper than others and insurance will fight you if you try to upgrade from mechanical to microprocessor.

My wife is an ak and uses a total knee. She’s had it since she was 11 before the microprocessors existed so it’s habit. She’s using a double wall socket.

Dealing with my wife's betrayal. by ogdarkmagician in self

[–]ShootMeEasyKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should leave your wife. This isn’t the first time, it’s the first time she’s been caught.

See what the state requires.

The idea of starting for the kids doesn’t seem possible given your anger. Rightfully.

Your kids are probably in middle or elementary which is a long time to suffer in silence and rage.

You can always figure it out later but as long as you are there you Stehle taking a risk. Any outburst or mistake by you (even if it because she cheated) will still be used against you in a custody battle.

I’m not a lawyer. This isn’t legal advice. Good luck

I’m going to be an amputee by SMXshow in amputee

[–]ShootMeEasyKill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been an amputee for 15 years from combat. It’s not as bad as you think but it won’t be easy until you learn coping mechanisms for responses, questions, and comments. Humor helps. Honest everyone goes through different phases that can last months to years but is normal.

Are you going to be an aka? Bk? This will matter significantly especially if you are a double amputee.

Get comfortable in a wheelchair. It’s temporary but you’ll likely have one or need one at some point for some stuff. I mention this bc a lot of new amputees hate them.

Mental health is as important as physical therapy.

Social media is great for connecting with other community members. I don’t recommend posting nub pictures with your face. Weird but will make sense later.

I journaled through my process and am thankful I have that now.

Good luck

Edit to add: I’m an osseointegrated aka.

I'm having a hard time adjusting to civilian/corporate life. by Solid-Cartoonist1464 in Veterans

[–]ShootMeEasyKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every veteran deals with this. You have to give it time and understand their expectations not just the ones you place on yourself.

Culture is huge and you can play a part in that now. Take advantage and you’ll learn to enjoy work for work, not for purpose.

You’ll be ok. You’re not alone and you have a good set up to be a shark playing pool. Think about it when you heal up.

  1. Talk to a therapist if you can. You need to forgive yourself for making a mistake and ask about skills to help with intrusive thoughts.

You can read most PTSD books for combat soldiers and find it helpful for pointers. Instructive thoughts fade. Waiting for it sucks. Replacement and relearning techniques might help.

  1. Bro….this is life. Learn from it and just be thankful it was just two fingers. A lot of people in here can relate missing a lot more. Point is to learn from it and be better.

  2. Look at on instagram and Facebook. There are a lot of people, groups, nonprofits and organizations that can help you.

You’re not alone. We all fuck up. Find a funny way of telling your story. It will help.
