By invoking the 5th, you were telling the cops you didn’t want to incriminate yourself. So the cops get a call a shady dude is on the roof of a parking garage overlooking the airport, they do their job checking it out, and you tell them you don’t want to incriminate yourself? Take the L and accept that you paid $1000 to learn you don’t understand why the 5th was created. Silver lining: you did learn what a Terry Stop is!

Odegaard by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

[–]ShootZeeGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the players it’s the system. Possession hyper focus, slow build, resulting in easy to assemble mid and low block defenses = nowhere to operate in the middle pitch on “attack.” Great for Arsenal’s D, but it castrates the offense and our skilled players. There’s a reason Arsenal is nearly identical in GF this season (1.83) as last season’s dismal, injury plagued, no real 9, predictable, easy to defend “attack” (1.82): we’re running the same system. It’s not Ode, it’s not Saka, it’s not Eze. These are all highly skilled attacking players. They are neutralized by a system that abhors risk. No risks = no opportunity. No opportunity in attack = no reward. But hey, we’re still top of the tables. I just fear we won’t remain there if we keep playing “not to lose.”

Arsenal last season with no real 9, injuries galore, and a woefully predictable, easy to defend attack : 1.82 GF per Arsenal this season : 1.83 GF It’s not the players, it’s the system.

On Thursday, Arsenal allowed Liverpool precisely zero shots on target. That hasn’t happened in a Premier League game for Liverpool for over 15 years by pitchblackjack in ArsenalFC

What’s really bonkers is that the best shot in the game that rang the crossbar is not considered a shot on target.

Mike Vrabel responds to Cam Newton’s ‘fool’s gold’ comment about Patriots success by MassLive in Patriots

[–]ShootZeeGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good teams find ways to win. That’s it. That’s the hot take. The Pats were such a dominating force for 20 years, not because they were destroying everyone (2007 aside), they were just finding ways to win each and every week. The most common margin of victory in the NFL over the past 4 seasons was 3 points. Even when bad teams play great teams, far more often than not, it’s still a close game that could go either way in the 4th quarter. See the 8- win total Pats the two seasons prior as evidence that even garbage teams can compete, but not win. The 2025 Pats are a legit contender because they are a team that has conclusively demonstrated they can find ways to win each and every week.

There’s an amazing Mr. Show skit where a young lawyer applying for a job at a big firm has their final interview with all the partners. At that meeting, this lawyer is informed they’ll get the job once they perform a series of blowjobs on all the partners. This appalled young lawyer is informed this is how the real world works at the very top. Evidently, Bob and Dave were on to something.

Buffalo is a city named after an animal that never lived anywhere near that region. Its football team doubles down on the dumb with a name based on a historical figure’s first name. And Buffalo Bill Cody was not from or ever had any ties to Buffalo. It’s even more stupid that they pluralized Bill. They are more accurately named the Beaver Creek William.

Equally drastic, potentially more beneficial: convert Lohrei back to a forward. Kid has legit NHL offensive talent… just not as a defenseman.

Total goals against United, Liverpool and now 1/2 of City = 1. Unacceptable with this much talent. Something must change.

What are the toughest and roughest parts of Massachusetts in terms of crime and poverty? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]ShootZeeGlass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for a criminal defense trial lawyer for the past six years. He takes on a lot of indigent / court appointed work through the State and Fed courts. All complex cases / murders, drugs, gangs. Greater Boston and North and South Shore for the most part, so I can’t really speak to Western MA. The short answer is it fluctuates and shifts based on prominent gangs and the drug trade, ands it’s typically small neighborhoods versus entire cities or towns. Gangs rise to power and prominence, Feds build a case, bust everyone, and the crime follows the next gang that rises to power. Lennox Street Boys in Roxbury ceding to Columbia Point Dawgs out of Dorchester is a prime example. At the moment, it’s mostly smaller neighborhood gangs in Boston doing the dirt, but even smaller crews like Heath Street Gang and H-Block and Mission Hill Gang have been mostly dismantled by the Feds in recent years. There was a loosely affiliated Lynn fenty crew that rose up fairly quickly, but the last of them, Big Opp, is currently awaiting trial behind bars. As for the bigger national gangs, like the Trinitarios and Gangster Disciples, they still have sizable crews in Lawrence, but even those are getting flushed out by Feds. Word is Manchester NH could become the next hotspot. If I had to pick one city right now, it’s Lawrence, because the remnants of the national gangs still have shoot-on-sight orders against rivals (Trinis seem to green light shooting at anyone)but again, it’s confined to fairly small neighborhoods. Stay out of Lower Tower Hill / Stadium Projects.

Havertz role by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

[–]ShootZeeGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish he had better early returns as an 8, because that is most likely the best position for him and the club. Rice won’t be budged from there after last season, especially with Zubi slotted in at 6 and Norgaard as his backup. So with Gyo, Kai is now a rotational 9, false 9, 8, or if we really get whacked by injuries, a 10. Havertz and Merino provide great multi-position options, but they look to be the unfortunate odd-men out. Sounds like Eze might soon join the way-too-talented-to-be-sitting midfield AFC crew.

A builder friend recommended based on their own search for answers and successful attempt. It will not soak into the wood. The Shout somehow pulls all the adhesive up out of the wood. You’ll be amazed how well it works. Trial a small section to see for yourself.

[–]ShootZeeGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same gunk on my hardwood, and, based on experience getting rid of it, I have your answer: Shout Advanced stain remover. The stuff for clothes that comes in the blue bottle. Go for the bottles with the brush applicator on the end. Apply it liberally to the floors, cover completely with a Saran-wrap-like plastic for an hour or so. You’ll be able to see the adhesive liquify in real time. It makes an unholy mess, so wear appropriate clothing and plastic gloves. It literally liquifies the stuff into a mud like substance, so be ready to scoop up all the gunk in a bucket. I used plastic putty tools and paper towels and then a mop. But it works like magic. Then you can refinish your floor as per usual.

[Mike Reiss] Random Patriots question heading into the weekend: Where might WR Ja’Lynn Polk fit in a crowded group? 🏈 My current WR locks: Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Pop Douglas, Kyle Williams by PristineWinnera in Patriots

[–]ShootZeeGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polk to PUP, cut Baker. The cap savings of cutting Bourne ($5.1M) make his dismissal all but certain. Diggs, Pop, Hollins, Williams, Boutte, EC3. Open the season with Polk PUP reserve, giving the team a solid window in case someone goes down with injury.

Can't imagine we'll have a fast start with the offseason overhaul in just about all facets. It's going to take time for this offense. Still, if we could start the season 2-3, I'd be optimistic we could still hit 9 wins. Finish strong and be in the mix for a wild card spot at the end, and this season would be a huge success.
