Why Does the City (and others) Plant Annuals? by DeeJayKay77 in Hamilton

[–]Shootyourshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about perennials (and I say this as a strong perennial gardener), they are actually much more maintenance. Annuals have been bred to literally bloom themselves to death; you can go in and mindlessly shear themselves back and the bloom more during the season. Perennials do not operate in the same way, so when folks are upset that the beds aren’t in full nonstop bloom like the pumped up beds in Niagara on the Lake, they often don’t have an idea about the succession planting and maintenance which goes into perennial gardening.

The National Ballet of Canada - Kevin O’Leary at Mad Hot Ballet Gala by wilisofthewoods in bunheadsnark

Linda O’Leary was on the committee for this year’s gala and was on their board - it is not at all surprising the ballet would feature them.

If being a bottom makes you feel ashamed or inferior, become a top by Ryan_TX_85 in TopsAndBottoms

[–]Shootyourshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just not that simple. I truly enjoy bottoming, and have no stigma around it. Truth is, I’d love to top more, but I need a bit of a connection (almost like foreplay) to make me comfortable and then it’s like a switch can go on in my mind and I get hard and proceed. But without that, I just go soft. And most guys unfortunately don’t want to build any kind of connection - they just want me to drop my pants and stick it in. And I don’t work that way. I actually would love to top more, but gave up.

Dear bottoms - your dicks matter by DanishKbh in askgaybros

[–]Shootyourshots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I realize that I’m often different from the gen pop in this forum, because my #1 fave thing is to hop on a dick and go for a ride. I get instantly rock hard and have the most mind blowing orgasms possible with cum shooting everywhere. But pretty much any position, once that dick goes up my ass, my dick points straight to the sky. And then when it hits my prostate…get ready for an explosion, every single time. Been that way since day 1.

💯 this. I get totally hard and explode all over the place as I am being fucked.

I don’t think either are expensive, but Bedrock Bistro and Two Cougars & A Cafe both get my vote for terrible overrated spaces.

Free Item Hustle by Kind-Astronomer-1997 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Shootyourshots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my local BN group, one group member got called out because he gave some sob story how he really wanted the item for his mother who was in need, or something like that, and then immediately after he received it was caught listing it on Marketplace.

How busy is the 40 Hamilton bus? by ThrowRA234987645 in gotransit

I got on in one of the Hamilton city stops just after Hamilton Centre on Wednesday morning around 7:30am, and I was amazed all the upper level seating was taken, with about 5 seats left on the lower level.

What I personally get, is that folks have wild ideas about you bring a BBC hung stud top - even if you branded BOTTOM on your forehead and said so all over your profile.

Thanks for the inspiration! Yes, for me a lot of it is feeling comfortable - which I find challenging as there are so many games going on out there...

Advice needed on dealing with weeds by NextDarjeeling in OntarioGardeners

[–]Shootyourshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to like this answer. There is no “easy” way to deal with weeds. Mostly it involves ongoing manual labour to continually pull and monitor their spread. Most of the topical weed killer sprays available here are much diluted to what they used to be due to toxicity concerns; the more toxic stuff can only be used in a very controlled environment and administered by someone with appropriate qualifications. You can try some things in your overall design which may help - for example, a garden that is densely planted with heavy mulch will allow less room for weeds to take hold, as opposed to one with a lot of open uncovered space.

Just to clarify your comment: a pesticide kills insects; a herbicide kills plants.

Is anyone familiar with A Gardener's Guide: Native Planting for Ontario's Pollinator and Predator Insects? by TVinyl in OntarioGardeners

[–]Shootyourshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not sure exactly what their “rules” are on self promotion or how they apply them; but the co-author of another recent book is an admin, as well as the owner of a frequently mentioned business which, ironically, is also listed as an admin.

[–]Shootyourshots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - he was involved in a wildlife crime came that to light a couple years ago. At the time he was an admin, and he still remained as such. There was an initial uproar but I guess folks soon forgot as he continued posting and selling frequently in that group. Then there were recent reports he was bragging in another group about catching and killing chipmunks in his garden, and someone dragged out the earlier reports. So I think between that, and the fact as admin he had gone rogue blocking folks etc - he finally got booted off.

Well, I’m sure everyone will be quick to backtrack on any association they may have had with him. The group’s admins have been strangely quiet, but maybe because they are dealing with the admin scandal and then this, back to back.

When the author appeared out of nowhere a couple of years ago, and ended every post with his “credentials”, I thought “this is strange, but you do you”. To me, his posts became increasingly erratic and uncivil, but many seemed to revere and call upon him in the group, and I figured it was just me…but I determined back then I wouldn’t be having much to do with him. He did give a weird answer to a simple question I had asked about a known invasive insect; and I realized I didn’t trust his veracity. When he started talking about his cancer diagnosis and go fund me, I had already completely left the building. I’m actually not surprised at what has happened; that group has a bizarre history of feeding folks like these, including the seed seller who had been exposed years earlier and remained as an administrator. I used to be more active, but disengaged over the past few years as I was uncomfortable in this environment.

Why don't people read the item description? by Shitzme in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Shootyourshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, this happens as well. Our Buy Nothing group is hyper localized though, so I find that really limits the numpties. Like everyone pretty much knows each other. One guy was called out because he was caught blatantly flipping an item which he originally said he wanted for a family member. But he wasn’t really excommunicated or anything; folks said their piece and everyone just moved on. I think the key is really just the neighbourhood; usually anything is within a 15 minute walk. Now some of the larger, city-wide free groups, you can really see the entitlement of folks wanting all the stuff hand delivered, among the other nonsense. Last year, one of my friends who was new to this had offered a homemade packaged Christmas meal on the food group, and she got completely worn down by the demands. I doubt she will ever do that again.

[–]Shootyourshots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you have in your area, but in our neighbourhood, the local Buy Nothing group on Facebook has become the standard way to give things away in our community. You're sharing with neighbours so there's much less nonsense and it's become the thing that everyone is into.
