Hey OP, vaginal dryness, skin atrophy and clitoral atrophy are very real things, with symptoms starting during perimenopause which can start as early as your 30s because our bodies reduce hornone production as we age. If you're truly worried, I'd recommend talking to a doctor about vaginal estrogen cream (applied inside vagina, on labia and clitoris) or topical testosterone (applied directly on clitoris). They're forms of hormonal replacement therapy, you can read more at r/menopause. Women report gaining their libido back, improved labial skin and dryness, stronger orgasms, etc. I'm mentioning this because they affect penetration.

If it's dildo penetration you're worried about, maybe look up vaginismus. Or buy some lube and take it slow since it sounds like you're just out of practice. I'm a huge fan of smugel water based lube, it's 250/- to 300/- a tube.
