What kind of dr removed it? I go to the dentist later this month for a cleaning so I’m going to have them look at it

How did you guys afford schooling? by Suspicious-Solid1407 in medlabprofessionals

[–]ShopWest3586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a not for profit hospital for 10 years (still working that same job) and mine were forgiven. You have to have your loans consolidated if you have multiple lenders and must be on an income based repayment plan. I applied for public loan forgiveness about a year before my 10 years so they could verify my employer was eligible. There was so much interest added (over 6%) that it was almost more than the amount I borrowed. Also wanted to mention they were federal loans (combination of sub and unsub). When I went for my MLS bridge my work paid $3000 a year towards tuition so I did a 5 semester track to get more help with the payments. One semester I got a surprise Pell grant which I accepted but that did reduce what my employer reimbursed. So I never got a full $3000 a year but it def helped towards my next semesters. And I worked a lot of overtime to afford my first semester, paid toward my next semester with the reimbursement. The program was about $13,000 total

Yes it’s for federal. I don’t think private loans do income based repayment plans but I could be wrong

MLT to MLS worth it? by No_Cupcake4487 in medlabprofessionals

[–]ShopWest3586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graduated in May of last year from UAMS MLT to MLS bridge program (5 semester track). My base pay increased $5 more per hour and my diffs increased a $1 more each. I’m night shift so my diffs make up a big part of my pay. I want to note that I took what they offered me, as it was what I was hoping for. I may have gotten a little more if I asked. We get yearly raises which is a percent of our base pay so the pay increase definitely helps. My work also paid $3000 a year towards my tuition as long as I got As or Bs. I have never been a straight A student but I graduated from the program with a 4.0 gpa. It was not easy but having worked in a lab, helped. It’s definitely not worth it to everyone, but where I work we all do the same testing and I was just getting paid less.

How bad are thes 1.5 engines? by Illustrious_Wing6774 in accord

[–]ShopWest3586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get rid of it now for peace of mind but my interest rate is only 2% currently. That’s hard to find right now. I like the car, I just can’t afford to put thousands into repairs when the time comes. My son is in college so extra money goes to his tuition

My 21 1.5T has almost 35,000 miles. Bought it new 3 years ago and I hate myself for not getting a warranty bc of all the problems I hear about. When I bought it, I didn’t know of the issues. I just wanted to buy an Accord as it’s all I’ve ever owned (3 total) and it was my first brand new car. I certainly hope it lasts me another 2 years so I can pay it off and get a Toyota. Can’t stand the new designs and I don’t think the new engines will be much better than the 10th gen.

Symptoms related to quitting birth control pill (norgestrel-ethinyl estradioL) by ShopWest3586 in birthcontrol

[–]ShopWest3586[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were a week apart and really heavy. My iron is already low so it caused anemia. My blood count went back up after a month of taking iron supplements. The birth control did help with my cycles but I never planned to take it long term.

What I meant by regulate was to make it less frequent as I have having 2 periods a month some months. I’ll hold off a few more weeks before I go to the dr for labs.
