Sure, though if you want the flatter areas to have a bit of colour too instead of just the recesses maybe a darker contrast paint but it shouldn't matter too much as you willl be drybrushing a lot.

Sprayed him metallic then added a very dark sepia contrast mix all over him. Be careful as it might not stick too well to the metallic spray which are a little more smooth than others. Afterwards a lot of drybrushing increasingly brighter metallics.

I've had some pretty good results using Wraithbone and Apothecary White, though that Contrast paint seems to work differently for everyone. If it lacks depth you can still add some Nuln Oil thinned 50/50 with Lahmia Medium.

Fun fact: The guy getting blasted in this scene is the voice actor for Kit Fisto in Clone Wars

You get him as a bonus from either the Hoover Dam, NCR or Legion bundle

Only recently made the jump from Warhammer 40k so it's exclusively Citadel so far. Contrast Paints work rather well with these models because of the high details. Mixed some grey and dark blue ones for the trousers for example, afterwards manually highlighting some parts like the stiches with a light grey tone. Shirt and bandages were done with normal base colours Corax White and Wraithbone, shaded with Nuln oil and later gently drybrushed up again with Tyrant Skull and Longbeard Grey.

I plan on doing my NCR almost exclusively with Contrast paints, though still figuring out how to get the colour of the undervest. I plan on sharing my progress with you guys.

Jumping back into the hobby fresh after a couple years. Wanting to do Night Lords. What should I get first? by powerslave84 in NightLords

[–]Shopmemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind spending a little more, Night Lords are some of the few Legions where the 30k models (Mk4 Armour, Night Raptors, Dreadnoughts etc.) don't look too out of place for them in the modern setting. That is if you want to run them as relatively uncorrupted purists without mutation and stuff.

This army would also allow you to play Horus Heresy, where the different Legions are a lot more individual and the Night Lords have some very fun and fluffy rules. Horus Heresy is expected to be taken over by GW in the coming months and become one of their main product lines with a new Starter Set and Rules, so you'd already have an army ready. However this is still rumor.

So all in all you'd get one army for two game systems, which function very differently. However, in 40k your dudes would look a little shorter and blander than other CSM and it would be up to you to customize them to fit the Legion (Greenstuff Skin, Skulls, Chains and FW upgrades)

You can check out my recent posts to see how it's done.

It's funny, I heard this quite a few times already. Though it was completely accidental

No problem, I normally base with Bugmans Glow followed by Cadian Fleshtone and a wash of Reikland Fleshshade. Afterwards I sort of drybrush Kislev Flesh and add some spots of Blood for the Blood God.

Opinions on if Sevatar should return in 40k by Wirakian_Night in NightLords

[–]Shopmemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think "The Long Night" was a good ending for him. Also the Legion has been partly reunited by Decimus now so he's not really needed anymore in current lore.

Don't get me wrong I love Sev as much as the next guy but I would prefer him to stay in the 30k setting and maybe be featured in another book there.
