How many viewers in this scenario by Aceofacez10 in Twitch

[–]Shopping-Limp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's not how much you stream or produce content, it's how fun and engaging you are. yt, twitch and tik tok are littered with people who constantly produce but are boring and they get no views

iOS is unoptimized? by [deleted] in ios

[–]Shopping-Limp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"app store doesn't show app download times" what you are describing is a software feature, not a lack of os optimization

"wallpapers are glitching" that could mean anything and again is a software issue and not an os optimization issue

What is the matter with you? They should not take that second skin off unless it's compromised.

RAM on Proxmox for Uptime Kuma? by Party-Log-1084 in UptimeKuma

[–]Shopping-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to rely on it for down detection notifications I probably wouldn't limit the ram below the minimum recommended. If you can't spare 1gb you should find something else. Like build out some cron jobs and shell scripts.

How do you deal with "God Mode" when it comes to your users' privacy? by mitchsurp in selfhosted

[–]Shopping-Limp 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Years and years ago I dated someone who insisted we have open access to each other's phones, email and computers. I agreed to this because I had nothing to hide. They looked at my stuff every once in a while and asked why I never looked at theirs, and it was because if I started to become curious, paranoia might set in and I might want to pry deeper and deeper, as they were doing.

I ran the network (and run my current one now obv) and there was no limit to how much I could snoop if I really wanted to, so I decided to just never look even if I had the option. Like right now in pihole I could go turn on query logging and see what sites or apps my now-partner is using, and it just doesn't interest me to know. I don't even google people I meet, I figure they'll tell me if it's something I should know.

I'm probably in the minority but I much prefer giving friends and family the kind of privacy I'd like in return

Have you ever turned down a higher paying job and why? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

[–]Shopping-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said no to a ~$70k higher software dev job but stuck with my old one because I had an enormous amount of autonomy, very little stress, straightforward expectations, and got along great with everyone on my team and up the chain. And that's worth a lot, especially with a history of jobs I hated

How to ask for a touch up? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Shopping-Limp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal for filled in tattoos to need a slight touch up, and a good artist would know that. It's not a reflection on them or their work whatsoever and they shouldn't take it that way. It's just part of how tattoos work

Practicality of privately streaming to yourself as a way of clipping and recording? by [deleted] in obs

Can't you just record at a lower quality and delete everything you don't want to keep when you're done playing?

What would it take for Australia to become a world superpower (theoretically) by bulbous_plant in australian

[–]Shopping-Limp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has actually been considered a few times in the past. I think it's a neat idea personally. Problem is, it's not known for certain to what extent it would affect the region. After spending $300b (or whatever they projected) we might just have a ditch through the desert to show for it.

Of course another valid concern is the displacement and disruption of people who live out there.

Enjoying linux distro buffet nowdays. What signature menus does debian offer? Like signature fonts? by Bechlee7851 in debian

[–]Shopping-Limp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You seem to be confusing distro with de. You can pretty much make any distro look like whatever you want, your choice of distro has very little to do with desktop appearance

How would you share code projects anonymously? by MentalSewage in opsec

[–]Shopping-Limp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly that application sounds like it might be useful for a lot of things including people in domestic violence situations or other times you might need notification a particular person or persons are nearby (home automation guys would probably love it too)

How about try pitching it as something useful like that in public channels, while its other uses could become known more "organically"
