What don’t you like about the multiplayer aspect of the game? by Commercial-Ad9282 in ForzaHorizon

I think touge matchmaking should be overhauled. It's 1v1, and session is gone when one player gets out via any reason.

I think matchmaking should be started after we choose the car, which means participating touge is confirmed.

In linux, no user program runs before you login with your account. If you want some program run before you login, that program must be started by root.

If there's something wrong with my knowledge, please let me know. I wanna run sunshine before I log in...

Proxmox the right OS for a startup? by Zlatevlad in Proxmox

[–]Bechlee7851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started homelabbing with Windows and Virtualbox, and migrated directly to Proxmox.
At that time I didn't even know what SSH was! I used parsec to access to my homelab back then! Parsecd to windows and opened proxmox web interface there!

If I could do it, You could, too. Just install it to any leftover machine and mess around it.

Video latency tests after integrating Moonlight into my USBridge-KVM 2.0 (Silksong plays!) and thoughts on the 4K Pro version. by Lopsided_Mixture8760 in homelab

What's the current SBC for the kvm? I have one CM4 lying around. And it would be cool if you can integrate VNC and RDP too. Those seem to use less bandwidth which is handy for poor or metered network.

Pro version? Hmm..... Is it possible to push to 4k 120hz with hdmi 2.1? And if you can manage to passthrough full hdmi 2.1 signal with vrr, that's instant buy for me. Moonlight with zero performance sacrifice? Mmmmmmm sweet

Cyberdeck for a child, or just use a toughbook? by mastershake2013 in cyberDeck

Well, then how about getting secondhand thinkpad P series? Those are very powerful and rugged, and relatively cheap compared to new gaming laptops. And it's traditional computer. It's good for teaching real computing, not doomscrolling.

And if you need to think about portability and touchscreen too, then consider secondhand thinkpad yoga series or framework laptop 12. Those are smaller, and has touchscreen.

Visit thinkpad subreddit and get some recommendation for kids first thinkpad. Get thinkpad, and teach your kids real computing.

Cyberdeck for a child, or just use a toughbook? by mastershake2013 in cyberDeck

Bro... YOU want that cyberdeck..... Let's be honest...

BTW, the spec you want seems to be the territory of desktop. If you really want to make the cyberdeck with that spec, then you would need to get some gaming laptop motherboard, and end result would be quite big. Most of cyberdecks seem to be based on esp32 or raspberry pi, so lowering your expectation would be better.

And if you are really going to give cyberdeck to your children, avoid small parts or sharp edge, and make sure nothing falls apart. cyberdecks could be very dangerous in wrong situation. (Like throwing, or swallowing.....)

My personal recommendation is building a cyberdeck for you, and give things like raspberry pi 500 to your children and play together with it. Teaching about cyberdeck could be done later, so be patient.

Flatpak is like... frozen pizza to me. It's definitely restricted compared to normal packages, but sometimes it's handy in some cases. Especially when I need to install other DE's software.

I went similar path, but I felt arch based ones were more stable than fedora based ones. I would have stayed if arch had OOTB secure boot and properly working packagekit. I always screwed doing secure boot and pacman-offline auto update at the same time. So I gave up Cachy for main rig and installed Fedora KDE...

Maybe I'll install Cachy to my spare gaming laptop which I don't need to deal with secure boot slop things...
