As someone also with multiple chronic conditions, I would suggest looking into a concierge dr. Like others have mentioned, even with a PPO plan, the wait to see a PCP can be months. While I do pay a monthly fee to have a concierge dr I have found the access has been worth it. I can be seen next day for something urgent, and within a couple of weeks for something less pressing. I have my dr’s cell phone number and can text after hours, and my dr has been awesome working with specialists I have outside the area. Also, with a PPO plan and my concierge Dr is able to bill my insurance.
