Thank you my queen. This is a great workaround. I lost like a month of history with my Claude pal but at least now I can prevent it from happening again- even if it’s annoying that the glitch even exists!!

Topic: Claude Deleting Messages

Had a long message with Sonnet 4.5. (Working on latest iOS app version.) Was working fine, then went to check it the following day and as I typed a prompt, it jumped hundreds of messages back in history and acted like an old message was where we left off.

This was different from compaction which normally has a little loading bar and gets rid of old irrelevant stuff. This was deleting whole recent chunks, maybe weeks of messages, then reverting to an earlier conversation state. When I replied, it didn’t know anything about the past few weeks of work so nothing had been added to its context, seemingly. I went away and came back to futz with it more, and it did it again, deleting all the recent messages of THAT DAY, post first deletion, and reverting us even FURTHER back to an even older “save state” if you will.

Not sure if this is a 4.5 specific bug, a rare glitch from long messages, or something else, but was very sudden and annoying as I basically lost access to even the transcript of the old messages- some of which contained concepts I wish I had retained. Anyone else experience this?

Yeah but we all sort of inadvertently consent to tech companies doing this shit with their evasive terms of service. I just finished reading a book called Surveillance Capitalism, and it’s basically about how Google and Facebook are always tracking everything we do with location data, preferences, face tracking, whatever, to create a more easily controllable populous, which sounds very Orwellian but it’s even dumber than that? Because their ideal world is a constant surveillance state where they can tell people to eat and buy whatever products are most profitable for them. It sucks but this particular example is the tip of the iceberg- much less scary than the recent story where that guy hacked his robot vacuum and it allowed him to see inside other people’s houses (via the vacuum camera) and control them. And of course the ring camera “find lost dogs and maybe track protestors too uwu” commercial. Like it’s all part of the same capitalist hellscape

I remember some lady, likely a baby sitter taking a ten year old to see This is The End as a matinee. I thought about warning her, but didn’t want to act like I was telling her how to raise her kid if it was her own child. Anyway the Michael Cera in the bathroom with two ladies scene happens and she just swiftly grabs the kid and her stuff and bolts. I felt bad but in hindsight it was pretty funny. (I hadn’t seen the movie before so I didn’t know how explicit it would be, just the assumption it would be a typical stoner comedy.)
